The Main Issues Which Contribute to the Spread of HIV/Aids Pandemic in Brazil and Africa - Term Paper Example

 AIDS is the disease that has now reached up to the level of being the pandemic where it has crossed the boundaries of many countries and it has made way to even the most developed countries starting from Africa and Brazil. The transmission of AIDS is mainly through bodily fluids including mother’s milk and this also includes the used needles as these are the main sources for the transmission of the disease. It has been estimated that one-third of the people who have been infected with AIDS are due to the usage of the infected needles (Ainsworth 5).

The poorer healthcare facilities within the country also dispose of the inhabitants of such diseases. Poverty is one of the main factors which lead to the progression of the disease because of the inability of the poor people to afford any health care facilities and they are predisposed to use illegal ways of getting healthcare especially the used needles. Education plays a major role where education is the way to awareness and guidance to the community. By the year 2000, aids were counted as the widest spread disease in Brazil resulting in 1500,000 infected cases.

There are many factors that have been contributing to the spread of aids in Brazil. It is inclusive of poverty, the lack of education, the lack of proper health care facilities, and above all the late realization of the fact that the disease is spreading because of these factors. Poverty has also contributed to the spread of aids in other third-world countries as Africa also (World Bank 14).Brazil with approximately 200 million of the population is counted amongst one of the most influential countries in North America as an economic giant and one of the world’s greatest democratic countries.

However, the foreign debts and the higher inflation rates have had some effects on the economic stability of the country. This is the country with the great Amazon forests which have been struck with the tragedy of deforestation (World Bank 15).Brazil is one of those countries which are inhabited by a variety of people in the country.
