This paper presents a report on the findings of the differences between the structural designs in the building code between the American building code and the Australian building code. The scope of AS 3600-2009 under section (1.1), sets minimum requirements for design and constructions requiring plain concrete pedestals as well as footings. Moreover, the standards provide a detailed overview of concrete structures especially for those structures with or without steel reinforcement and prestressed tendons basing on the structural principles of engineering mechanics. The other objective of Australian concrete structures AS 3600-2009 actually is to provide performance criteria against which the finished structures can be assessed for compliance with the relevant design requirements (AS Committee 3600, 2009, pp.34-50).Primarily, the AS 3600-2009 are appropriate for structures other than buildings and therefore the Australian Standard concrete structures have been specifically formulated concrete structures.
