Over the years, a considerable number of studies have examined different aspects pertaining to organizational change. Some research studies suggest that emotional intelligence plays a significant role in facilitating effective organizational change. Currently, the Saudi Arabian government has instituted a number of educational reforms in order to bring Saudi’s educational system at par with other developed economies. This implies that numerous changes have to be introduced at different levels of Saudi’s educational system.1.0 IntroductionThis study seeks to critically examine how leaders can use emotional intelligence to effectively implement and manage organizational change.

It particularly focuses on examining how the director of a regional educational supervision office in Saudi Arabia employs emotional intelligence to lead change. One of the key objectives that this study hopes to accomplish is to show the role that emotional intelligence plays in facilitating effective organizational change. It also aims at identifying the emotional skills that leaders require in order to facilitate organizational learning and manage changes in an organization successfully.Over time, there have been concerns that the kind of education offered in Saudi Arabia is not efficient enough to produce a knowledge-based and skilled workforce that would propel the country towards the achievement of its socio-economic goals.

This is mainly because educational programs in Saudi Arabia are largely grounded on religion. Religion significantly influences school curriculum, standards, and practices. The study of Islam, memorization of the Qur’an, and its interpretation through repetition forms a large part of the school curriculum and practices in Saudi schools especially in the primary and secondary levels (Cole 2012; Cordesman 2008). Consequently, most learners are left ill-equipped with the relevant knowledge and skills required to survive in today’s increasingly dynamic and competitive environment.
