Extract of sample "Applying to Statistical Analysis Program in Stanford"

What sort of person am I? Friends would describe me as punctual, ethical, and deeply concerned about friends and family. I’m personable and enjoy socializing. They would also say that I am a curious individual with a love of learning. Ever since I was little, I have loved exploring and learning new things. I found it incredibly exciting. What I like in particular about my subject of study is that the “exploring” and learning that goes on can actually help improve people’s lives.

That makes me feel good. Statistics are very important to me. I believe that statistics and numeracy are key aspects of education that must be promoted for people to become well-rounded. Without this ability, it is very difficult for even the brightest person to get ahead in life. That’s the main reason I would like to study this subject. Additionally, I would use my further education to help people. This program would not be about me, it would be about other people. I want to give back to my community.

  Thank you for your consideration,
