Extract of sample "Medicare Fraud Prevention Act"

Law must include severe punishments for people who fraud in the medical section.  At the starting of 2011 January, Bill H.R. 173 is included in the House of Representatives. This bill is specifically raised for House Ways and other Means Committee. Bill includes the preventive measures of Medicare fraud for elderly people. This bill is also given in the Social Security Act through titles XI and XVIII. Bill gave in 2011is “to provide increased civil and criminal penalties for acts involving fraud and abuse under the Medicare Program and to increase the amount of the surety bond required for suppliers of durable medical equipment” (H.R. 173). Major action is taken on February 1, 2011.

The same Bill was raised for House Subcommittee. Earlier efforts give no positive result and recent bills give provisions regarding the health reform law(May 2010). At the movement, the bill is in the legislative body. It is applicable to the elderly population. The basic factor behind the bill is to save the fraud and abuse done to Medicare. This law provides information about the proper use of medicine. The primary cause of abuse happens when a doctor fails to implement appropriate medical practices, which results in other medical treatments.

An example of fraud can be giving wrong information to join any fake Medicare community or plan. Punishments regarding civil as well as criminal one for Medicare is multiplying. Some criminals give wrong information and result in an increase in punishment, a maximum of 5 to 10 years. (Legislation Detail, 2011) .These punishments will help the government in saving a life. Bills help in the prevention of fraud and abuse. Effective one includes elder people. This fraud results in huge almost billions of dollars.

The AARP vice president, Nancy LeaMond declares that we can save this loss. Medicare is working with health providers to prevent the loss. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Department of Justice (DOJ) jointly putting their efforts to investigate the possible root cause of Medicare fraud.
