With the publication and popularity of the book, she has become the protagonist of hooking up culture. With her smart interviewing techniques she has succeeded in eliciting information on intimate and embarrassing details. She is not moralizing and perhaps would not like to take the risk of becoming unpopular with the college going student fraternity. Sex and alcohol,drug use are intimate bedfellows and the authoress has taken note of these aspects on a limited scale. She has also interviewed gay and lesbian students and their interest in the book-up culture.

And most importantly, why students have begun to opt out of the hook up culture! Bogles work throws light on the complex subject like sexual realities of a rapidly changing world, deeply impacted by the materialistic civilization. Naturally, this sensational topic has received extraordinary attention from the print and electronic media, perhaps much more than what it deserved. Youth and sexuality are the attention-demanding subjects and Bogle has cleverly capitalized on it. The authoress is aware and has taken note of the ancillary but dangerous issues related to hooking up.

Bogle writes, “ Further hooking up has been connected to an array of social problems, such as binge drinking, drug abuse, and sexually transmitted diseases. In addition, feminist scholars have been concerned about the link between hooking up and sexual assault, while conservatives have linked hooking up to being raised by divorced parents.”(p.3) Notwithstanding the liberal attitude towards hooking up, the original problems of female gender have remained the original problems! Bogle observes, “College women seem to have realized that men think less of them, if they are too sexual during an initial hookup or in the early stages of a series of hookup encounters with the same person.”(38)Marriage with an ideal man of their choice and settle peacefully in life, still
