Part1: Project Title: Build and construct electrical lab with Recreation center . Project description: The purpose of this project is to develop Build and construct electrical lab with Recreation center in Al Ain men’s collages. The duration of the project is 1 year to be completed with the cost of 4 million AED. We will build a separate electrical lab that will have rooms for training and training equipment and a room that will be decayed for high voltage experiments. The recreation center will be for the engineering student and stuff only to have some relaxing time after stressful work. The center will be environmental friendly by supplying the electricity to the lighting from solar panels. Moreover, the new center will have highly suficstacted alarm system in case of emergency. Scope of the Project: The scope of the project is to Build and construct electrical lab with Recreation center in order to meet the student’s needs , like providing state of art technologies and achieve the college needs because of the highly demand on new electrical labs because of the increase number of students who would like to join electrical engineering major. The cost for the new center will be expensive and it cost 4 million AED. Project Life Cycle Plan: The aim of this project is to improve and develop our electrical labs in Al Ain Men’s College to combine all electrical departments in one place including all different kind of laboratories and all needed rooms like training rooms and a place to store all the dangerous equipments and also to store the student projects. This project will 1 year and the budget of the project including all equipment and material is 4 million AED. The center will save student time, they will be able to find all the material and equipment in one place instead of having to searched for them from outside the college. The student will be able to use the recreation center to prepare for them classes and their presentations in addition to have some relaxing environment, and read books also that are not necessary related to their course. The center will enhance the quality of education for the students because they can have enough time to focus in their study and to be able to use art equipments. We will calculate the probability of the risk and we will try to avoid it. So, we have to do several things before we start. First of all, we have to find the most suitable place to construct the electrical lab with the recreation so the student will be able to access it easily. After that we have to check with team a member who is responsible for budget, if we have the enough resources, capability, and competency to implement this project in the college. Part2: Deliverables: Finding a suitable place Search for free areas Check their capability Select suitable area Building & constructing the Engineering Lab build the infrastructure ( foundations ) build the column and roof rise the walls finalize the building structure communicate and check the electricity Painting Equipment’s Furniture 30 Computers with all needed programs 50 DC power supply 50 breadboard Connection Wires 100 multimeter 50 oscilloscope 20 appliers High voltage AC power supply 3-phase power supply Transformers 20 Allen Bradley PLC 10 DC machines with there auxiliary equipments Wireless network Test Security Alarm Electricity First Aid Box Fire extinguisher Smoke detector Electricity potection Milestones: The project will take 1 year to finish Design the lab with engineers by the first month Start building the infrastructure in 2 months Finished with column and roof after 3 mounts from finding the infrastructure Finishing the walls in 1 month after finishing the column and roof Done with finalizing and painting in 1 month after finishing the walls Order chairs ,tables and boards in month 8 Finishing insulting the electrical test equipment and computers by month 9 Order alarm system moth 10 Get the internet connection finished by month 11 Inspection and test the center by month 12 Technical requirement: The lab has sufficient space for classes, tables and chairs Camera system work Alarm system work Wired the laptops and download the software The size of the whole building is 200m2 Design, develop and test equipment Evaluate and test products Adjust, test and repair equipment Operate and maintain test equipment Run computer simulations Record and interpret data Conduct studies on production time and quality Analyze production costs Help engineers design, develop and test machinery and equipment Prepare layouts and drawings Prepare the lest of equipment and cost of each one Limits and exclusions: The worker responsible for preparing the tables, chairs and clean up IT technetions responsible for download the software on laptops and computers Etisalat response for install internet Supervisor responsible for checking the number of laptops and other things Security reasonable for alarm systems Engineer Ali & Omar are responsible for design the lab Construction company is response of the whole building Engineer Eisa & Abdullah are responsible for ordering the equipment of the lab Engineer Mohammed responsible for communicate with companies Lab work limited to Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Customer review: We did survey to know the students complains and problems that they doesn’t have enough equipment and machines technician in our labs. There were several feedbacks from them about the current lab. In the current lab, there is no machine technician for guiding and training the student also we missed many kind of important machine that we need to use it. The lab itself does not have enough equipment’s for education purpose such as science experiments. In addition, they are suffering from time, effort, and money when they go outside college. This risk will be minor and will be in form of slight delay of payments to contractors, imposition of unreasonably tight schedule, change of design, improper intervention, and delays in getting access to the site, lack of scope definition, sudden bankruptcy, and breach of contract. This risk will therefore be rated as low and can be mitigated by ensuring that the owner of the project is adequately prepared in advance to address the risk. Designer The risk related to the designer is also possible to occur. Like that related to the owner, this will be a minor risk. It will come in form of small deficiency in drawing, defective design, failure to issue documents on time and changes in design. It will be rated as low and can be mitigated by ensuring that there is proper selection of designers who are well qualified. Subcontractors The risk related to subcontractors is unlikely to occur. This is because the subcontractors are striving at maintaining their good image so that they can get more contracts. Its impact is therefore, very low. In case it occurs, it can be mitigated by ensuring that the subcontractors are well paid and motivated to do a good job. Political factors It is possible to have a risk resulting from the political factors. This risk will be minor and will be in form of slight delays in approvals, bribes and corruption, changes in Laws, labor strikes and war threats. This risk will therefore be rated as low and can be mitigated by ensuring that the there is good terms with the government. Economic factors It is possible to have a risk resulting from the political factors. This risk will be minor and will be in form of small shortage in the availability of equipment, shortage in availability of manpower, shortage in availability of material, currency fluctuation and inflation. This risk will therefore be rated as low and can be mitigated by ensuring that the there is enough financial preparation. The identification of risks is seen as a recurring event. It cannot be done once and then set aside. It starts in the in the initial stage of a project in which the identification of initial risk is done. Identification and documentation of risks and mitigation measures are identified during the planning stage. The identification, resolution and management of risk go on after the initiation of the project throughout the project life cycle. New risks are identified as the project matures causing internal and external situations to change. As the probability of risk occurrence rises or as a risk turns into a reality, and the project manager addresses the real problem, there is need for re-planning to take place (Crouhy, et al., 2000). Part 5: Project Report Submission Performance Measuring Method and Reporting The method for measuring and reporting the performance and progress of the project is that involving the determination of whether the deliverables, budget and time set during the project planning are being met. If each of the deliverable and task is completed within the set time and with the use of the available resources, then it can be reported that the project is performing or progressing well. Therefore, the best way of measuring the success of the project is to ensure that specific time and cost limits are set for each task and deliverable. After doing this, the measurement will be simple since the completion time for each task or deliverable will be matched with the time set during project planning. If it falls within the time and cost set during planning, then the task or the deliverable will be measured as successfully completed (Bruce & Langdon, 2000). Project Retrospective and Closure Process The retrospective in this case is the other name for postmortem. In respect to project, there will be a formal evaluation of the project performance in the end of the project. The lessons learned from the project will be extracted. At the same time, recommendations will be made and managed so that they can be applied in the future. Three measures of success will be used in Project. These measures are mainly process based and they include whether the project came on scheduled time, whether the project came on cost or budget and whether the outcomes or results were met. If these were achieved, then the project is closed and reported as successful. References: Aven, T., & Vinnem, J. E. (2007). Risk management with applications from the offshore petroleum industry.
