Fast Car Manufacturing Light/Modified Duty Program Purpose The objective of Fast Car Manufacturing industry is to ensure that an action is taken for the employees who are not physically fit to return to their work as soon as possible. Their physicians should decide and outline the period the workers should do this. After they are declared fit by their physicians. It can be realized by assigning light chores and responsibilities to such workers that provide a smooth atmosphere geared at seeing them return to their original work. To decide the jobs that these people will be given, getting in touch with their doctors will be the bottom-line of the company. The employees will be given duties, which could differ from their initial ones. The assigned duties will be in line with the prescription of the doctor. The workers will neither be forced to do jobs that are not allowed by their medical personnel provided nor be allowed to participate in them. The aim of Fast Car Manufacturing is to help lower compensation premiums for the insurance companies as well as to provide injured employees with parallel jobs for smooth recovery by offering a transition medium. Those employees who intend to fraud their insurance companies by submitting false claims are subject to stiff penalties. Scope The aim and aspirations of Fast Car Manufacturing are to offer easier duties to those employees who are injured, despite where they picked the injuries. By so doing, it is ensured that they go back to their original work in complete working conditions. When they get injured, they are advised to go to their physicians with immediate effect, be attended to and released from work. The employees have to let know of the alternative simple and lighter jobs offered by Fast Car Manufacturing Company to the physicians so that the doctor can make correct decisions on the work to be given to them. Management commitment The management will communicate effectively about the alternate simplified program to be assigned to the injured employee. It has to be in written documents that will be presented to the medical provider. All the involved personnel, that is, the health provider, the employee, insurance companies and also the supervisors will be involved while establishing the alternative simple jobs. The employees will be accompanied by their supervisors to their physicians in order to communicate and create awareness to the doctors about the Fast Car Manufacturing’s parallel jobs. The physicians will then decide the work to be done by that employee, based on their condition and the type of the light works offered by Fast Car Manufacturing Company (Nelson et al., 2006). A part-time position for the employees’ compensation claims coordinator will be created in the company. The coordinator will be given this position with the responsibility of meeting the workers in the alternate easier jobs and their supervisors, evaluate their performance and progress as well as delegating with them. The coordinator will give feedback to the company, the physicians, and the insurance companies as well. The state and firing of the employee, whether improving or deteriorating, is expected to be done by their supervisors per week and gone through by their compensation coordinator after every two weeks. They will also provide any observations to the three parties named above. Employee involvement The employee is expected to see their doctors as soon as they get an injury. They are the required to acquire a written document from the physician, vividly outlining the limitations they have any involvement in work. The limitations will thereby be followed to the letter not only by the company but also by the employee in order to enhance quick recovery of the worker, as is the aim of Fast Car Manufacturing Company. The employee should cooperate and take part in the assigned responsibility. The other responsibility of the employee is to let their compensation coordinators know about any strain or challenges they experience in the line of the alternate light job. The provided information can always be useful in understanding the state of such a worker. It can then be communicated to the company, the physician and also the insurance coordinator. It is also expected that the employee takes part in the compilation of the weekly assessment on their progress. Should the employee intentionally fail to do the new easy work given to them, they forfeit their claims for compensation. Medical provider communication and interaction process Getting in touch with the employee’s doctor is solely the work of the compensation coordinator of the worker. By doing this, the doctors will know that the company indeed has alternate easier jobs to be done by the employee. After evaluating the situation of the patient, they will be ready to assign the worker the alternative work. The doctor will after that be summoned to the location of the jobs .they will inspect the chores and confirm whether they are convenient to the injured employee. At this instant, the worker’s supervisor will be there too, to answer any queries the doctor might be having. The physician will be required to submit a written document explaining the limitations of the employee to any work. Changes to be made for the lighter work to be given to the employee should clearly be stated by the doctor. The doctor also should provide the time the employee has to spend in the parallel job before full recovery. Lastly, it is required of the medical provider to produce a document after the worker is healthy enough to return to the original work. At the document is an attached letter covering the program of returning to work and the relation of the physician with the company. Program Administration Since the alternative work done by an employee when injured is simpler, their pay will be reduced until the affected returns to their original work. Those in the alternate work will be paid less than those in the factory per hour. The aim of the company is to provide easier jobs to its injured employees and to give them a medium for full recovery while working. The company will follow this to ensure that the condition of the injured worker is not interfered with. The medical officer will provide the period an injured employee is supposed to work in a day. The company will cooperate with the provided information on the same, provided that the worker is not having a permanent injury. The company will also obey the decision of the doctor on the period that should be allowed for the employee to get back to their initial jobs. Education and training All the employees will be provided with a document thereby written and containing the alternate jobs they will be given in the case of an injury. They will also receive an intensive training on how to carry out those chores. They will do this at the time of orientation. An illustration on how they will carry out the sidelined duties when injured will be provided to them. It will be in the form of a recorded procedure on the same, such as a movie. Program evaluation A scope of how effective the alternate program is will be carried out on several factors as follows. Each year, a documentation of all the injuries will be done. To be included in the same will be the number of workers involved in injuries, those given the alternate jobs, and how many of the workers were compensated. The period that the injured employee was assigned by their physicians will also be put down alongside the compensation of workers per year. This information is crucial to the company. Its comparison with that of other years will offer a platform for evaluating the program’s effectiveness, which aims at reduction of employee’s premium compensation, minimizing work costs and helping the workers to resume their initial work within the shortest time possible. If these goals are not met, the Company will take appropriate actions to achieve it. Inventory of Light/Modified jobs The alternative responsibilities that should be assigned to the workers include; organizing and arranging files, cleaning the compound and the parking lots, reproduce documents in the photocopying and printing sections, delivering letters, parcels, receive calls and reply any incoming messages, and clean cars and equipment.
