TWOS Analysis for 2 Companies TWOS analysis Rao et al. (2008) argue that TWOS analysis involves the examination of threats, weaknesses, opportunities, and strengths for different organization. Diverse organizations consist of people with different functions such as human resource, accounting, finance, maintenance, and information systems among others. There are also the marketing officers who play a vital role in any organization. TWOS analysis engages in identifying the company’s goals, while identifying internal and external factors. The TWOS tool assists in the analysis of what is effective and less effective in the organization. Organizations may face problems during its operations, and due to the competition in industries, TWOS analysis can identify a strategic position of the company in relation to its set objectives. Mannai Corporation Mannai Corporation in Qatar is a holding company principally engaged in trades and services across all private sectors in Qatar. The Oxford Business Group (2007) notes the company owns 14 subsidiaries offering sales and services of automobiles, information technology, engineering, and heavy equipment sales among others. The company also offers industrial products as well as office products including logistics, warehouses, and representatives of international organizations. This organization is a complex entity made up of different groups of people specialized with specific purposes in the set of rules, relationships, procedures, policies and culture. Threats According to Rao et al. (2008), in TWOS analysis, threats are the external factors affecting any Corporation. Threats involve elements in the external environment that represent risk to the organization. Competition from outside companies remains the main threat in Mannai Corporation. Milaha is among the main competitors in this industry. The location of the company is strategic and therefore it attracts many interests, which are partly political. Lack of proper security in the area also poses a threat. According to Kamrava (2013), other threats include social threats such as resistance by the society to carry out training programs and lack of funds to facilitate the training of these programs. A strong establishment necessitates a strong political backing sustained funding and just remuneration for the staff. Weaknesses Financial resource is a challenge to the organization. The organization requires expanding and advancing in service delivery. It requires more equipment and staff to run the organization, but funds pouring in are limited. As a result, there are little or no training programs for staff. The world today rapidly seeks technological advancement. With the lack of proper funding in the organization, client’s best interest, which is to benefit from advance knowledge, remains curtailed. Employees are unable to practice multi-disciplines and advance their skills and knowledge effectively due to lack of a resourceful research center. Opportunities The opportunities in the Mannai organization, according to Rao et al. (2008), involve external factors. They are the essentials in the outside environment that the organization can utilize or take advantage. The organization has programs, which create partnerships with other companies. These programs give the organization a chance to learn and set benchmarks against best practice organizations. Minnai Corporation also takes advantage of training opportunities through bringing in renowned consultants. Strengths Strengths are internal factors in the institution that tend to favor the organization (Rao et al. 2008). They include client satisfaction and low employee turnover among others. The strengths in the company include; all-inclusive planning design of its programs, proper implementation and supervision system, scrupulous selection and recruitment processes. The company highly motivates these employees. As a result, low employee turnover, and high levels of client satisfaction characterize the organization. The organization puts focus on teamwork and group-oriented approach; enabling it to build its success by word-of-mouth. The quality has given the organization a competitive advantage over other organizations. The brand focus is an added advantage of this company. The company uses diversification and penetration to other areas strategy. Milaha Qatar Navigation Milaha Qatar Navigation is an investment company offering transportation and supply chain resolution. Its business fields include petrochemical, gas, logistics, trading, maritime and offshore businesses. The company provides land transportation and shipping services among others. Threats These external threats include politics and security in Qatar. Publitec Publications (2007) notes that there are many foreign companies competing in this market, and this poses a threat to Milaha. The other major challenge includes the changing technology, and this company has to be conversant with the latest trends. The highly skilled people require high salaries, and due to the economic threat, this ripple effect comes as a threat to Milaha Company. Research shows that the skilled employees tend to change companies due to their high demand. Weaknesses In order for this company to grow, there is a need for financial supply, and this remains a big challenge to many companies. Due to the rate of expansion, and financial strain, the company fails to offer substantial training for the employees. Lack of enough funds can have a negative effect on the clients who may opt for better services from other companies. The market competition is equally high hence employing very skilled employees is another problem. There is also an issue on complexities of managing unrelated businesses. Opportunities This corporation has an advantage from external factors like the many ports working with Qatar government. Qatar is the number one growing country, and its markets seem to expand daily. This big opportunity for Milaha broadens its business to the external ports. The company equally brings in experts from other organizations in order to offer or teach their skills to Milaha employees. The company’s goal of being the best provider in this market is an added opportunity for Milaha Corporation. The company is equally expanding through joint venture, and buying shares from different companies. Strength Strengths are internal factors in an organization facilitating its growth. In Milaha Qatar Corporation, these influences include the strong regional foothold, excellent team, and a wealth of assets. Qatar’s base provides for the best employment with good motivations. This strong team plays a vital role in Milaha Corporation’s objectives. With such a strong team, Milaha spends fewer funds on hiring because the employees tend to last longer in employment. Milaha Summer Training Program helps in motivating its employees ensuring they do not leave the company for greener pastures. In addition, this company that believes in education sponsors young people interested in learning operational and technical disciplines in different universities. Conclusion A TWOS analysis of this company includes Threats, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Strength. This effective tool can provide timely leads to the management and staff involved. TWOS analysis involves specifying the business objective, identifying internal and external factors that could help in the analysis of what is valuable and less valuable in the organization. When undertaking a TWOS analysis in organizations, both internal and external data is important such as quality data, employee satisfaction data, and safety incidents. External data include performance benchmarks from other associations, data on marketing programs, etc. Several organizations applied this simple skill undertaking projects and businesses since early sixties and seventies. The SWOT analysis influences future planning, finance and management decisions in preparation for an effective plan for organizations’ success. These two transport companies seem to share most of the threats and weaknesses. However, they differ in the opportunities and strength according to the study due to their different strategies.
