Arguably, bilinguals tend to focus on the language used based on specific purposes, for example, when communicating with different people or various domains of their life. Additionally, it depends on the contents, behaviors, and attitudes used.Behaviors shift is witnessed when there is a need to speak to others. This is done by adopting behaviors and feelings despite the language is the same. The difficulty is caused by the interlocutors, environment, and culture. The adoption of the new languages does not display a causal relationship that can be attached directly between personality and language.

Language use emphasizes culture which forms the basis of cultural identity and culture as a whole (Pavlenko, 2005). The multilingual use different languages depending on the situation and purposes, bilingual’s acquisition of different languages depending on their comfort. Often they desire to use one language than acquiring a different one. This makes it difficult to learn a second language because they are uncomfortable. The new language requires a change of attitude, behaviors, and even the environment (Evers-Vermeul & Tribushinina, 2017).

The linguistic structure plays a significant role in switching languages. The dialect requires observing the values of a specific community. Instead, bilinguals opt to express their emotions when using the second language. For example, expressing affection using English -French would adjust easily using the second language to show their feeling (Huston, 2002).Another difficulty is the revelations of the accent. For example, when a bilingual gets angry, stressed, or tired, there is an increase in strength or emergence of their original accent.

Further, language is reverted regardless of the expression using the first or the second language. English French bilinguals find it interesting to switch languages when expressing emotions to find relief (Smith, n.d.). Arguably, cultural accommodations influence language use. Bilinguals opt to hold on to their culture when learning a second language. This makes it difficult to conform to the values of the language learned. Additionally, different patterns of personality are experienced based on interlocutors (Sudarshan, 2016).
