November 22, Dear admissions committee, I am writing to apply to your graduate law program. Law has a central role in my life and with an LLM, only the sky will be my limit. I have worked hard all my life and sought out the best education I could find. That search continues to do this day with my application to you. Throughout my life I have worked hard to overcome obstacles. The sad truth is that life can be hard sometimes. That is why it is so important to remember where you come from. For me, family has always been the first thing I think of when I wake up and the last thing as I go to bed at night. My family has defined my life through thick and thin. Families shape individuals lives, and I feel this especially keenly. Even though obstacles can get in your way, family can help you get through your day. That is one of the most important life lessons that I have learned. I have had many obstacles in my life, but I’ve persevered and overcome them. They’ve shaped my personality but not overcome it. I remember how much my parents valued education; that kept the flame of a better life living on within me. Today, I do my best to strive towards excellence with obstacles knocking every day at the door. My mother and father have been a major inspiration in my life. Their stories are the basis to my life and they allow me to know how far they have risen from; they teach me to focus not only on my current state, but to yearn for more. Their stories taught me how to be mature and to realize that no matter how life gets you down, you have to get back up again and fight for your dreams and what you believe in. That is the most important lesson of my life. I do my best to always remember it. Next to my family, law is the most important thing in my life. I live, breathe, and sleep it. Throughout my education I have worked hard to establish good analytical and critical thinking capability; I have further acquired understanding in my subject of interest by watching documentaries and reading research journals. I know I will one day make an excellent lawyer or law professor. I have big plans and big dreams which I want to fulfil. I know in my heart I will achieve them. An LLM degree would be the first step in accomplishing my goals in my plan. My plan is to get an LLM to benefit younger law students and future generation. I would like to be a law professor. I love teaching and enriching others knowledge and I like to help people. An LLM would also assist me to establish a specialized legal centre to help poor women to overcome some problems related to law and spread awareness all over the community. Also I would develop a small legal centre to form a team of talented law students and to raise the spirit of challenge and make them serve the community in the best way they can. Another thing that getting an LLM degree (commercial law) is that it would allow me to raise my family name and create a strong reputation and manage the family business and expand it wisely. All we really do in life is pass on our accomplishment to our children in order to make their lives a little bit easier. I would do anything for my parents to make them proud of me, because they have done a lot for me and I really owe them. Part of my plan to make them proud is to earn an LLM. But I am not doing it for them alone, I am also doing it for me and for my future. I believe in my future with all my heart. So much can be accomplished when one believes. In the long-term I want to have my own law firm and I believe that I’ll be devoted to such a firm, because I want it to be the leading firm in Middle East and I want it to be as good as the best law firms in US such as Patton Boggs. I am willing to do that because I’m workaholic and I have high chance to overcome many firms in the region if I get my post graduate degree from a strong university like yours. I know that starting a law firm is a difficult job. People will always be down on you and expecting you to fail. Fortunately, I believe in myself too much to let that happen. I will fight to accomplish my goals with every ounce of energy. I would also like to be an effective member of one of the international organizations such as the UN, so that I could be the first woman that would represent her country in such an organization. This is important to me, the idea of making a difference. I want to make dramatic changes back in my home country and I want to be an unforgettable person that leaves a great mark on the history. That sounds ambitious, but it is the truth. Indeed, I want to change the idea that most people have of Arab women from the Middle East, i.e. that they are rich and spoiled and don’t bother to think about the future or changes or education. This is a false idea. I know the future will be very different for women from Arab countries and I want to be a part of that new future. I worship education and am willing to do everything I can to aspire to achieve the best in education and reach the highest level in education. One should learn till the last moment of his life. And that’s what I’ll do since I adore education. In conclusion, an LLM is what I need to help accomplish my goal. I respect your school a great deal and would be honoured to receive an invitation to study there. If you have any questions about my application please let me know. Thank you for your consideration, Sincerely _________________ Read More
