The paper "Aerobic Respiration as a Type of Metabolic Reactions" is a wonderful example of a lab report on biology. Aerobic respiration is a type of metabolic reactions and processes which occur in the cells of organisms to alter biological energy from nutrients to adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to give out waste products. This metabolic reaction is also involved in breaking of large molecules into smaller ones releasing energy in return as they break the bonds in their structure. it also help the cell to get the energy to provide energy for the cellular activity in the cell.
A plants and animals cell uses sugar, amino acid, fatty acids, and oxygen which is the oxidizing agent during respiration and the energy produced is used in the processes like biosynthesis and movement of molecules across the cell membrane, a process that requires energy to take place. There are some factors that affect the process of aerobic respiration, this includes; hydrogen, oxygen, temperature humidity water pH and enzymes. This high concentration of hydrogen protons yields energy that helps in the coordination of cellular activity, hence it tends to decrease the concentration gradient from the outside compartment to the innermost compartment of the cell.
The main of objective of this experiment is to determine the organisms that can only survive in in presence of oxygen and those that can survive both with oxygen or without oxygen and those that totally des not ]require oxygen to survive. Hypothesis Hypothesis about anaerobic respiration was supported because the qualitative data shows that the beaker that heated yeast at 45c was most successful in making CO2.
The yeast in the beaker went down halfway and the other half was filled with CO2. Yeast in ice water of 5c~10c created the least amount of CO2. The level of yeast went down only as much as the size of my pinky nail. Requirements 4 beakers, Organisms, Weighing balance, Aluminum foil, Labels, Measuring cylinder, Water, Conical flask, Sodium hydroxide, PHindicator (phynaphthaline) Procedure; The total weight of the organism was taken using the weighing balance, I placed 4 beakers and labeled them and cover them with aluminum foil to prevent the entry of light.
I measured 25mls of water from the beakers and placed into the flask and repeated this for the rest of the beakers. the flask containing 25ml of water from the beaker and placed on a white background and add few drops of phenaphthaline indicator drop by drop as I stir to mix properly. I added sodium hydroxide drop by drop and counted the number of drops until the color changes or retain and observe and record the results. Discussion Aerobic respiration is the discharge of energy from organic compounds in the cell's mitochondria.
This reaction requires oxygen. This respiration lab show exactly how there is a rise of aerobic or cellular respiration. This process takes place faster in water with normal temperature. In this experiment, the vial that only had the glass beads was the control. In the beaker that contains the organism, the total oxygen consumed in the beaker that does not have an organism remained about the unchanged all through the experiment since there was no respiration taking place. The consumption of oxygen for the organisms in the room temperature was faster than the organism in the cold temperature.
If the conditions for respiration are put in place then are right then aerobic respiration takes place faster and this I confirmed by more oxygen used in the beakers at room temperature. Since there was more oxygen used up, aerobic respiration consummatefaster. KOH was used to remove the presence of carbon dioxide by changing into a dense yellow substance. The removal of CO2 leads to correct reading of the result and If the carbon dioxide was not completely removed then it would have altered with the analysis with oxygen and if the beakers were not closed water or moisture would have dropped leading to wrong reading.
Had the vials not been sealed, there could have been leakage of leading to another misreading. Conclusion Respiration occurs more accurately in the presence of oxygen at room temperature and is faster than other condition of lack of oxygen where it’ s very slow and poor.
