The questionnaire was used on practitioners whiles an interview was designed for the patients. Sampling Selection The proposed study is going to be a quantitative research method, which means that the researcher is going to pay particular attention to primary data collection, which involves the collection of data from original sources rather than dealing with existing data (Sullivan and Wyatt, 2010). A combined sampling approach is going to be used whereby the researcher shall make use of both the purposive sampling and the random sampling methods.

Purposive sampling shall be used in categorizing patients in the ward of the hospital to ensure that it is only people who fit the variables set that will be selected. Some of the variables shall include the age of patients, medical history, body size, and family history. Thereafter, a random sampling approach is going to be used to select twenty patients on whom the researcher shall apply his intervention. The random sampling technique shall be the final sampling technique and this shall be used to select fifty (50) patients out of the total to be selected through the purposive sampling.

The fishbowl method shall be used whereby ‘YES’ and ‘NO’ inscriptions shall be written on pieces of papers. Patients to pick ‘YES’ shall be included whiles those who will pick ‘NO’ will be excluded from the study. Data Collection Since the research topic is narrowed to the area of clinical challenges associated with the management of osteoporosis, much of the data collection process will be centered on effective ways of managing osteoporosis. The challenges shall, therefore, be addressed through the application of direct interventions.

The interventions shall, however, be taken from two approaches, one of which will be from the service provider’s perspective and the other from the service user’s perspective. In the case of the service provider, there shall be the use of questionnaire for the collection of data on some of the basic challenges they face in managing osteoporosis and ways in which they have tried to overcome these challenges. The questionnaire shall also quiz them on the readiness to adapt to the intervention to be put forth by the researcher.

In the case of the service users, an interview shall be used for them in questioning them on some weaknesses they find in the existing remedies spelled out for them as well as a post-intervention data collection exercise to ascertain from them the impact of the proposed intervention on them. Validity and Reliability Issues Validity and reliability are often treated as the same subject but they are indeed different when it comes to practical research application. Generally, the validity of the research deals more with the data collection process and the sampling method to ensure that there were no forms of biases that could pre-determine the outcome of the results (Haye, 2012).

In the present study, validity was ensured by combining two sampling methods to ensure that the weaknesses of one were overcome by the strengths of the other. Through the random sampling procedure, the researcher did not have any pre-judgmental knowledge of who would be part of the sample size and who will not be part and could not influence results in any way. Reliability, on the other hand, refers to the generalization of the results such that the findings of the current study must remain the same when the same variables are used in a repeated study (The Harvard School of Public Health, 2010).

Indeed, this was ensured by the data collection methods whereby the researcher had a pre-intervention data collection exercise and a post-intervention data collection exercise to ensure that data collected before the institution of the intervention were tested for reliability after the invention was introduced. Ethical Considerations Ethical consideration is very important for any academic and professional researchers such as this one as it helps in ensuring that the research adheres to basic institutional ethical behavior.

For the proposed research, an important area where ethical considerations shall be made most will be in the area of participant involvement. The first approach towards ensuring ethical behavior would be the use of a consent letter to seek permission from hospital authorities as well as all patients to be included in the sample size. As part of the ethical form, the aim of the research, role of participants, possible risk of involvement and assurance for anonymity and confidentiality shall be outlined.

As part of the ethical considerations, there shall be an institutional review board (IRB) approval of the ethical standards of the research. This shall not only be a paperwork formality but then in the actual data collection process, the researcher shall ensure that the identities of respondents are kept anonymous. Information provided shall also be treated with maximum confidentiality.
