Japanese Cars Are Better than German’s There has been a relentless rivalry between German-made cars and their Japanese counterparts with many preferring the latter while still a portion of others going for the former. Whereas each group has its reasons for the preferences, Japanese cars tend to be very friendly to college students for various reasons. Ranging from price, value, availability, functioning to name but a few, Japan vehicles seems to be the leaders in the market. In this essay, the focus is on reason why Japanese cars outdo their rival Germans; further, prove is substantiated concerning why college students should go for Japan cars instead of German’s. Cheap to purchase and maintain While many German cars like the Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW are all luxurious, they are also extremely expensive in buying as is the case with maintaining them (Mikler, p.18). While some students would not have a problem with driving such cars, majority of them would resent the thought of having to spend more money in maintaining a car that is not very special in reliability. Japan cars are cheaper to buy as they are in fueling and maintaining thus perfectly meet the need of most college students. Easy to drive Wanda (p.21) noted that when it comes to choosing which car to choose if one wants to drive without difficulties, the Japanese cars fit the bill. Since college students are not involved in car sports, it is imperative that the cars meant for them be easy to operate to avoid complications. It would be extremely sad for a college student to have a car, which is hard to drive since it would complicate matters and even affect the education process. Therefore, college students ought to go for Japanese cars as opposed to German ones. However, not everybody seems to agree with Japanese cars as Valdes-Dapena (p.9) claims that these tend to be meant for only a certain class of people. Additionally, the German cars have been viewed as having more engine power compared to their Japanese make. For instance, Audi-, which is a German made car-, is designed to operate in almost any road with a powerful engine capacity. Students would need to have a car, which guarantees them quality, and service without major constant break ups. Notwithstanding this view, Japanese cars are known for various classes, some of which actually do challenge the German. In fact, some of the cars made by Japanese companies tend to be even stronger than Germans (Mikler, p.33). Moreover, college students do not necessarily need a powerful car. Instead, their preference is a car that will meet their need of going to school and coming back home without incidents. As a result, the only choice for a college student concerning a car is Japan made and not German. Re-sale value Additional reason for driving a Japan-made car is the fact that it has a higher re-sale value compared to the German’s. According to Wanda (p.9) German cars, though undoubtedly have good quality- tend not have many buyers in the future. Aging factor and social class contributed greatly to a poor resale value of a German car because the rich people rather buy a new car. Since college students will graduate someday, there is need to have a car that could be sold in the future. Honestly, that car is not German but rather Japanese thus the need to go for the latter. Reliability Reliability is a term that could perfectly be used to describe the Japanese cars especially because they are light. Wanda (p.8) noted that a car is thought to be reliable if it does not break easily, is easier to drive and fuel consumption is steady. In some cases, cars tend to give the wrong information pertaining to fuel, breaks when unexpected even without accidents and complicated in driving. A deep analysis of the Japanese cars shows that college students would prefer this option for the aforementioned reason. Obviously, the last thing every student want is to have another liability in form of a car that is fuel guzzler or one that breaks before reaching school or home. Performance It has erroneously been propagated that German cars tend to be more efficient in performance in comparison to Japanese. However, Mikler (p.18) argues that what many people fail to understand is that a car’s performance is dependent on several factors. On top of the list is the maintenance whereby if a car-owner keeps servicing the vehicle, its performance will be enhanced. Additionally, using the right fuel in a car will go a long way in determining its performance. Therefore, judging from this evidence, it is clear that individual responsibility is key to a car’s performance not make or company. Variety Many Japanese companies tend to have cars for almost every class of people unlike their Germans counterparts whose innovation seem bent on luxurious vehicles alone (Mikler p.23). College students are less interested in class but more in convenience. Japanese cars give people both class and convenience but the same cannot be said of the German’s. Students have a chance of selecting cars, which are affordable to them without having to incur extra expense. In fact, Wanda (p.11) reported that many students across the world who used personal cars considered Japanese cars the best due to variety. Locally available parts Irrespective of where a car is made, it occasionally experiences some mechanical problems caused by various sources. In such a time, every driver would want the car’s spare parts to be locally available to minimize expenses. Wanda (p.12) noted that Japan car manufacturers tend to have their motor vehicle parts available in almost every corner of the world. Further, car owners can buy these parts in the shops right in their neighborhood thus saving them a lot of money that would have otherwise been used in importing them. Every college student would resent having to divert their money on importing parts to fix on their cars. Space The makers of many of the Japanese cars seem to consider many things before releasing a product to the market. Apparently, many cars- even luxurious ones- normally have a large space where one could carry other belongings (Wanda, p.26). College students do carry books, and even though these may not need a space similar to the one found in the boot of a car, it gives a room to carry items if need be. Additionally, the space left between the seats allows the owners to have passengers seated comfortably and enjoy the journey. Moreover, many cars from the said country have adjustable seats, which allow owners to create even a bigger room when carrying bigger items becomes necessary. In other words, if college students needed to carry other luggage which cannot fit in the boot of a car, the seats are not permanently joined but rather can be adjusted (Mikler, p.27). However, looking at the German models reveal that they are designed to carry passengers specifically with few adjustable options. Furthermore, cars could be assembled in a way to handle local road status; in other words, students even in countries where roads are poor could still drive these cars because some parts could be changed. Japan cars available worldwide While both countries strive to have their cars in every country, Japan’s idea to have cars available in almost every part of the world ensures that anybody can buy one. Unlike in the past when people had to import cars, Japanese have set branches in different countries in order to the need (Mikler, p. 29). As a result it becomes to easier to own a Japan-made car without having to spend an extra coin importing. Frankly speaking, German cars are also available in many, if not all, countries but the aforementioned benefits make Japan’s dominance invincible. In essence, Japan cars seem to have the upper hand concerning the choice of college students. As indicated, a car’s reliability is imperative and choosing a car should be dependent on one’s use. In the case of college-going students, the Japanese cars are the best in the sense that fuel cost is cheaper, maintenance and affordability. Moreover, if a student experiences a mechanical problem, solving the issue promptly would be the first wish in order to avoid inconvenience. As expected, the students will someday graduate, and the need for the car may somewhat change thus the need to have a friendly way of disposal. Japanese cars can be resold at fairer price than the German’s.
