This paper provides an analysis of my group work, tasks accomplished, and the skills that evolved from teamwork. The benefits of working in a group outweigh those of working in solitude. It was a great experience working with a group as we looked into the Whitbread company. The tutor had divided the class into groups, and the members were expected to work closely to provide a comprehensive report. I was lucky to have met all my group members previously except one, and therefore it was easy to interact with them.

We had our first meeting in class, and the first activity was picking a group leader. We chose Jones and unanimously agreed that we needed an efficient communication forum to follow up on various group activities. WhatsApp was chosen as the most efficient mode of communication. In the course of the meeting, I was excited to know that all the group members were hard-working students. It was, therefore, going to be easy to conduct the required research. I, however, did not know that every member of the group had a unique persona and that we were all supposed to understand each other.

The group leader sent three questions to the platform, and each item was to be completed by two students. Each team would present their answers to the group with the intention of adding more ideas. The first team was to discuss the introduction and general overview of the Whitbread company. The second team was to look into the head of Whitbread, and the traits of the leader whereas the third group was to explore management skills by the Whitbread administration. In the course of time, I learned that some group members had poor communication.

They were well versed with the topic of discussion but could not transfer the knowledge to the group. My experience working in a group was a good one. I concluded that the benefits of working in a group outweighed the benefits of working in solitude. I benefitted from the divergent ideas from the team members. Besides, I learned that communication is very critical in teamwork. My group eventually succeeded in the compilation of an excellent report. I would attribute this to the hard work of every group member.

It took us six meetings in the school library to compile our work. My teammate and I had been tasked with looking into the Whitbread head and their leadership traits. I looked into Allison Brittain, the chief executive of the company while my partner looked at her leadership traits. I had not heard of her before, and upon my research, I learned she is holding one of the most high-profile jobs in the field of hospitality. Besides, Alison portrayed a charismatic leadership style based on her speeches.

I was delighted to learn she was friendly to her employees since it positively affected the organization.
