Extract of sample "Analysis of Gospel of Matthew"

Judas arrives and marks Jesus with a kiss. He is taken, but Peter follows discretely behind. As Jesus is tried, Peter denies knowing Jesus three times. He is ashamed, for he has fulfilled the prophecy Jesus had spoken concerning Peter.

The next day, Judas tries to repent of betraying Jesus but is denied by the priests. Jesus is taken before Pilate, who can find no harm in Jesus. The crowd cries for Jesus’ blood and so Pilate washes his hands of the situation saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just person.” (Matthew 27:24).
Jesus is taken and humiliated. The crowd spits on him and makes him wear a crown of thorns. He is taken to Golgotha and crucified along with two thieves. Jesus dies on the cross and is buried in a tomb owned by Joseph of Arimathaea. Watchmen are set to guard the body.

Three days later, Mary Magdalene went to visit the tomb. Angels tell her that Jesus had risen and that she should go tell the other disciples. The watchmen are bribed to spread rumors that Jesus was not resurrected, but that his followers stole his body. Jesus appears to many of his followers in a large group.
