The disagreements and dissatisfactions that characterized the Reformation of the Church of England during the 1660s was the primary cause of the rise of Puritans.
Puritans believed that the Church of England was corrupt. According to them, the actions of the church did not rhyme with the biblical readings. Puritans, thus, were noted during the 17th century because of their spirit of moral and religious earnestness that informed their holy ways of life (Martin 56). The Church of England was too formal and conducted mass services, in the same way, every day. Additionally, Puritans were opposed to the faith that the congregation experienced in the privacy of one’s thoughts. Because of these reasons, the Puritans wanted to purify the church by introducing new ways of worship characterized by liveliness and instituting a public domain into their ways of worship. The Puritans were actually extremely excited about Biblical truths and did not want anybody to hide it under Roman superstitions and human traditions.
