Having a Best Friend - Essay Example

I had a boyfriend but we broke up when I was accepted. She also had a boyfriend whom she married and had a son. I was asked to be the maid of honor. We had so much fun together. We had different class schedules and different majors but we decided that we would meet at the library to continue preparing for our assignments and study. There we had the opportunity to meet a young man from Taiwan and we managed to exchange cultural experiences. We even learned Chinese. Having a best friend during that period in my life was most enjoyable.

When we were not together we would speak over the telephone for hours. I moved away but we continued communicating. When I visited my family, I would immediately call her and make plans to visit each other and planned other activities with our other friends before I left. My mother would say aloud, I know a best friend is back. She said that because the telephone would not stop ringing. My friends and I would get together and party. I yearn for those years. Since I moved, we seldom see each other or communicate with each other, but I wish I could have a friend like her again.

I did not realize this until I had to write this essay. I do not have any friends now, only acquaintances. This type of relationship is not the same.
