The paper “ The Teacher's Subjective Evaluation Contributing to His Effectiveness in Students' Performance" is an impressive example of an essay on social science. From the Newsweek magazine “ Getting Real about Health care” , the (Samuelson) of the magazine is so convinced to write about health care in a way that gives the reader a false impression as suggested by Samuelson (2008). This is by arguing that he supports the restoration of health insurance and the provision of universal coverage. However, the author’ s subjectivity in the above argument contradicted when he argues that the major problem facing health care systems is the soaring costs which he does not provide evidence about.

Samuelson (2008) also implies his subjectivity when he argues that almost every person in America knows those who do not have health insurance. The author’ s total lack of reason regarding health matters shows his fanaticism which affects his subjectivity. This is because, in his article, he does not clearly provide references to the facts in order to avoid disputation. The author also seems to establish an authoritative voice by arguing that “ whoever wins should put health care at the top of his agenda” Samuelson (2008, par 4).

This shows how the author uses his feelings to express his opinions and subjectivity. My subjective evaluation as a teacher which is based on experiences in the teaching field contributes to my effectiveness in students performance. This is due to significant variation in the standards of evaluation we use as teachers when learning students’ behavior. The sampling variation of students’ behavior, as well as the classroom level to some extent, affects my effectiveness based on students’ test scores as suggested by Smyth (2000).

In most cases I find myself evaluating my students’ performances depending on how they answer questions in class, their attentiveness in class and their overall behavior. I have gained this skill through my experience and interaction with students. However, I have learned to control my subjectivity by developing a positive attitude toward all students. This aspect of subjective experience in most cases affects my role as a teacher as I tend to influence my interaction with other teachers. For instance, I tend to socialize with teachers who believe in students’ performances based on their (students’ ) behavior.

As a result, I find that some teachers feel that I isolate students who demonstrate less ability. I encourage students should be encouraged to adopt responsive behavior. To achieve this, I ensure that I focus on every student’ s positive character and through that I show them their potential of performing better in various fields. This way I manage to work beyond my subjective beliefs which might negatively affect the students. The aspect of experience-based evaluation which I have been using subjectively sometimes brings a feeling of neglect in some of my students.

This is because they come to think that I mind about other students more due to their better performances. They tend to think that I neglect them due to their poor performances. To avoid this, and to rise above my subjectivity, I have been trying to treat all students similarly; even in the allocation of class tasks so that they do not feel neglected. However, according to my own assessment, my aspect of subjectivity in the future is bound to improve student’ s performance with time.

This is because students will realize their need to get serious with their classwork. In order to maintain the positive part of my subjectivity based on former experience, I will ensure that I teach my students what I have learned from past experience. This way, the students will learn new things and thus develop a positive attitude to my way of evaluation.
