Today, for a business activity especially manufacturing industries to remain competitive in the market, they must involve a logistic process. Logistic plays a major role by linking various stages of procurement from identifying raw materials required in the production process to delivery of products to customers. Logistics involves planning and controlling all activities like finding the source, transportation, storage, production, and distribution of the finished product to customers. The process is labor-intensive since various people in different departments do most of the activities. The management should employ various techniques to manage labor and reduce the cost associated with labor (Folinas, 2013).

Labor management in logistics

Training of employees

Training helps employees acquire specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform various tasks. This increases labor productivity since employees have the necessary skills for undertaking work entitled (Khosrow-Pour, 2013). Training enhances quality production, which meets the customer's needs and requirements. The enlightened employees help the organization to lower the cost of carrying on the logistic process and avoid time-wasting resulting from consulting due to lack of knowledge (Folinas, 2013).  

Morale building

Morale building helps in managing labor, as employees are motivated to carry tasks.  Managers should not only consider remuneration as the only way to improve employee’s morale. Awards and other benefits as promotion encourage the employees to work. Employees also need to understand their performance thus giving them feedback enhances labor productivity. Labor management increases the satisfaction of employees (Golińska, 2014).

Training and improving employee’s morale also enhances labor management.
