The sprinkler systems serve the main purpose of contributing to the firefighting process and their damage could hinder this process. The fire department officers must be aware of the strategic location of the sprinklers and ensure that they are not consumed by fire. In doing this, the fire department officers must first quench any form of fire that could likely destroy the sprinkler system as this would go a long way in fighting fires in the whole building. The damage to the sprinkler system could hamper the firefighting process.

Similarly, for the sprinkler system to function properly, the water distribution system must be functioning properly as any fault in the distribution system would ultimately cut short the supply of water to the sprinkler system, the fire department officers must ensure that they quench fires around the water distribution system and prevent its damage as this would enable the system to continue supplying water to the sprinkler system. Even after this measure, it is noticed that the sprinkler system still lacks sufficient water; the fire department officers must ensure an alternative supply of water to the sprinkler system by connecting a water pumper to it.
