Extract of sample "Jeffersons Declaration of Independence"

Jefferson had negative views about women trying. However, in the declaration, he does not talk much of women but he says that all men are equal (Jefferson 25). Jefferson appeared to favor patriarchy giving men more powers than women.

 

  1. Find at least one use of parallel structure in the declaration. What key terms are repeated in identical or equivalent constructions, and to what effect?

The paragraphs starting from 3 up to 29 have started with either “For’ or “He” (Jefferson 27). Each of the causes has almost the same length and this indicates their parallel effect.

  1. Which causes listed in paragraphs 3 through 29 are the most serious? Are any trivial? Which ones are serious enough to cause a revolution?

The serious causes include the refusal of his Assent to Laws which also obstructs justice administration, refusing the other people to be elected, connecting with others to subjecting the citizens to the jurisdictions that are not usual to their constitution among other causes (Jefferson 28). These causes are not trivial and serious one that can cause revolution is by refusing his assent to the law being the most necessary for the good of the public (Jefferson 28).

  1. What do you consider to be the most graceful sentence in the entire Declaration? Whereas it placed in the declaration? What purpose does it serve there?

The most graceful sentence in the entire declaration is that the united colonies had the right of being free and independent States (Jefferson 29). It is placed in the first statement of declaration and the purpose is to give the citizens freedom.

  1. In what ways does the king’s desire for stable government interfere with Jefferson’s sense of his independence?

Jefferson does not the governance system of the king but supports self-government Jefferson 29). The king does not want to have assented to the law and this obstructs justice administration. Jefferson however believes that all men are born free law of nature (Jefferson 29).
