Theory into Practice ID] [Lecturer] Education is all about ideas and how one perceives them. Imagination leads us into a philosophical class where many students are sitting on benches and a lecturer is giving some age-old explanation of a theory devised by an epoch turned scientist, sociologist or theorist. There are ideas that are being imparted to the students by the lecturer, as he delivers his instructions to his learners whereby they get to know more and more about what had happened in the years they were not even born. They come to know about the particular theory at hand and what needs to be done to implement the same in their years to come. (Harrington-Lueker, 2000) May be some question and answers session is also conducted whereby students interact more freely with their fellow students and obviously the teacher. Philosophical thinking demands time and attitude – one that can think on its own about the world sitting at a single place. It is all so technological but not though at the same time. Bringing theory into close association with practice is indeed one of the fundamental factors behind teaching students the basic premise of education and if the same is inculcated in an adequate manner, there would never be any apprehensions on the subject of putting theory into practice in the literal sense of the word. Theory is defined as the reading and understanding basis of any subject, event or discipline without the actual execution or practical basis. It discusses each and every facet, tangent and aspect but does not do much further. To begin with the subject of theory and practice at hand, it is pertinent to comprehend the fact that indeed education starts at home. If the young ones cannot come to terms with the notions attached with education at home, there is little chance they will ever understand the intricacies and sensitivity aspects that are linked with its imparting in essence. Education’s basis must come from the domains of the child’s home. His home is his fundamental nursery. It grooms him, teaches him through thick and thin, allows him to play and mold his life in accordance with his as well as his parents and siblings’ needs and desires. Thus education should definitely be started from home in order to be productive in the long run. Bringing a tinge between theoretical norms of education in line with the practical basis is indeed significant and all this starts right from the place where the child feels the best at all times – it is none other than his home. (Griffin, 2003) On another tangent, education if taught properly could make a student realize as to what potential problems the application of practice might just have for his future. Theory is all good as long as it does not come under the jurisdictions of the practice regimes. The student will realize that there has to be an earnest effort on his part to turn theory into practice. If he does not know about education is in the first place, courtesy a great deal due to the lack of understanding displayed on the part of the teachers and parents then he might fall within the trap and become theoretically focused than emphasizing on getting things done through the practical domains. Thus education is deemed as significant from the fact that it will only make him strong and determined to take on the practical world and not just follow the theoretical bases. Then again, the role of teachers and parents needs to be outlined back and forth. This is because they have the eventual responsibility of providing theoretical and practical connection for the students and it would only be fitting if they provided them the much needed link between the two. (Green, 2002) Having a clear cut understanding of theoretical and practical issues within education helps the students to keep away from the error areas – areas which are deemed as significant towards their eventual mistakes, in the practical world more than anything else. This makes them feel secure as well as in total control of their own selves at all times since they know what to expect from the real world and not just following books and theoretical papers to comprehend what is in store for them. Moving ahead with the discussion, it is a fact that putting theory into sheer practice is at times impossible to attain in the time and age of today. There are problems, laws and regulations left, right and center and hence the achievement domain becomes a little difficult to achieve. There are serious issues regarding the applicability of theoretical regimes into actual practical bases. Then there are the cultural and societal concepts which suggest a role of two within any society as far as practical execution and related basis is concerned. Theory might seem right but when it comes to a clear cut execution basis there are qualms raised by the authorities at the helm of affairs, both in a direct as well as an indirect manner. As an example, a teacher might experience political pressures he there is an issue which could only be taught yet its practical demonstration is a difficult proposition for the students to understand in the truest sense. The economic settings come within the equation when the institution fails to achieve budgetary stability within its ranks and hence the teacher falls short on showing the practical example of what has been taught courtesy the theoretical discussions and understandings. Teachers resist putting theory into practice because there is lack of motivation to do so. They just want to teach and move ahead without caring what implications this could have on the minds of the students. Their main aim is to do what they are required to do rather than being good role models and going out of their way to show what is in essence done or carried out. There is a great deal of motivation that is missing from the ranks which must be comprehended so as to pinpoint the problems that exist in entirety. The reason as to why the school does not put emphasis on the practice basis is because there are the financial tangents which must be kept check upon while they are wary of the fact that their first and foremost responsibility is to impart education and this really does not matter for them whether what they are teaching is mere theory or something else. Their focus is on getting to the students through the written word and not through the actual experience; more so because they understand their role is limited which in reality is not. (Bolanos, 1994) The socioeconomic and cultural pressures are something to write home about under such a discussion. Lastly the environment plays a huge role under such a topic. This is because a particular school would only follow what the schools in close proximity of that school are doing. If there is a culture of following theoretical basis within the practical regimes in all schools, there is a good enough chance that this meticulous school would also do the same. (Short, 2003) In the end, one must reach the conclusion that putting theory into practice would indeed help the coming generations immensely. This will facilitate in their better upbringing – in terms of quality of education, healthcare facilities, environmental movements, political regimes and so on and so forth. All said and done, prosperity would only reign in if there are concerted and whole-hearted efforts on the part of one and all, related with the cause of spreading education in particular.
