Special education is a form of education that is purposed to educate a student with special needs. It addresses their personal differences and need in a unique way, which makes them feel part of the society. This process involves the personally planned and systematically supervised arrangement of teaching guidelines, adapted equipment and materials, and available settings. These arbitrations are devised to aid students with special needs to gain a higher level of personal self-sufficiency and success in school and their community, which may be not available if the apprentices were only given access to a normal classroom education (Obiakor, Bakken & Rotatori, 2010). Communication disorders, emotional and behavioral disorder, physical disabilities, development disabilities and learning disabilities are the major special needs taken care of in the special education institutions. A student with such complication will benefit from this education since it is addressing their issue at a personal level and no sense of misplacement. Modern technology has been initiated in those institutions thus making the student benefit from such technologies. Relevance Special education is offered at different programs depending on the individual’s complication. Education to the disabilities and the disordered has affected the society and the global at large. Educating those special groups of people has brought a lot of changes in the society. People with disorders and disabilities have talented which the society requires for its development. It is through educating the special group a given society can benefit from their particular talents. Programs that have been started to take care of this kind of people includes a school for the deaf, school for the blind, early childhood, the handicapped schools, psychiatrist clinics and others depending on what kind of complication the group is encountering in common. These programs have proven to of great importance to the society. Before this programs were started those with disorders, and disabilities were taken as misfortune without any benefit to the society. Others were discriminated because of these complexities and they ended up committing suicide. Since there were no programs to take them through the transitioning to adulthood any complication because of the same they viewed it as a disaster. Since the programs were inaugurated, the society has availed a lot from those people. For example using their Braille the blind have participated a lot in the development of the society (Burkhardt, Obiakor & Rotatori, 2008). Individuals who have passed through the psychiatrist clinic have proved to be responsible members of the society. Different programs have their syllabus, which is founded on the consideration of the group that will use that particular syllabus. One thing in common with this syllabus is that they are all aiming at converting those individuals to be responsible people in the society. After they are through with the education, it is the hope of the in station and the society that they will be self-dependent. Effects of special education Secluding people with physical or mental problems from the other people bring up a notion of discrimination. This has affected the performance of many students with such disorders and disabilities. Convincing the student about the issue has resulted in too many learning institutions to spend much of their time in such issue rather than developing their skills. Other whom they thought they have the same chances with the other people realizes that they have a weakness hence dwelling more on the weakness, and they forgo their strength. This happens as the involved parties are being prepared for the adulthood life (Florian, 2014). During the period of modeling the special group of people, they are assigned responsibilities. Though at first they might view it as I mistreat the responsibilities help them to be independent in their future life. The independence life of the special helps the society in that they contribute to the growth of the society. Once the special group has passed through the specific program, they get equipped with knowledge that they can share with the other members of the society who is undergoing the same challenge. Have skilled people in different programs facilitates different education institution with labour and thus improving the quality of the education being offered by different programs. People with mental problems are a big challenge to the society in that they are hard to control, and they sometimes engaged in unlawful acts. Violence is very common in this group and, therefore, they require a specialist to manage and bring them up well for the benefit of the society. Development of a special program to take care of such people has helped the society modeling them to become useful people in the society. Transitioning those individual to adulthood has broadened the boundaries of education and hence producing people who are of great help to the society. Moral issue taught in the special education equips the people with the knowledge of how to relate with one another and the other members of the society. This has affected the society in that people who would be no importance to the society are being changed. The morally changed people have acted as a role model for the other who has the same challenges. The transformed individual has helped the society in appreciating everyone despite if their physical or mental challenges (Reynolds & Fletcher-Janzen, 2007). Individuals who have passed through the process and have achieved their goal have motivated the staffs who are in such programs. These motivations have resulted in improved quality of the education in such programs. Through the process, such individual learns their right, and as they grow up, they become people, reliable leaders. These rights enable an individual participant in their community development activities. This assists in enhancing community development and influence the political leadership of the area. From the information, they learned during transition program others become strong leaders who support their society. Having leaders who passed through the same programs acts as an advantage to the institution offering special programs since they can be consulted in case of any complication. This is because they act as ambassadors to such institutions and light to the student who are in the same condition. They form links to financing students in such programs thus developing the programs. The existence of such program has insinuated establishment of the organization to fight for the right of such individuals. Such organization has even financed some of the programs thus reducing the cost of educating such individuals. The organizations have even taken part in modeling the individuals for the betterment of tomorrow. Staffs from these programs have benefited a lot from education being offered by the organization. Some organizations provide staff to such programs thus reducing the workload (Reynolds & Fletcher-Janzen, 2004). Conclusion Educating the physically or mentally challenged is an important process to ensure that the society the society has maximized their talent. Different institutions offering different programs to an individual with a different special need should make sure that their student is aware of the changes accompanied by this transition. This will help them appreciate their condition and work hard to be independent individuals. The society has a role in providing moral support to the individual who are in the programs. This moral support will help them appreciate the new environment they are taken to be equipped with knowledge. The society should work hand in hand with the institution to ensure that the student gets a quality education. In addition, it is the role of the society to ensure that the external factors, which might affect the institution, are in control. By providing conducive external factors and resources required for the development of the institutions quality of the education in that society will improve.
