User Manual of Apple News app Name: Institution: Date: User Manual Table of contents Brief Introduction 3 Step-by-step guide to installation 4 Step-by-step guide to use Apple News 9 Conclusion 14 References 15 Brief Introduction Flipboard is a social magazine application that is available to Android, iOs, the Web and Windows. Apple replaced Newsstand that has Flipboard-style like app that is known as News. Newsstand needed custom app development for every publication or use of a third-party iOS publishing platform like those provided by Richie, 29th Street Publishing, or TypeEngine. Users are able to read summaries of news stories on the Apple Watch and they can go on to read the content in full on their iPhone (Montoya, 2015). Apple unveiled new News App that delivers the best news reading experience via a mobile device. The app is available on iOS 9 which fall for iPad and iPhone, News goes ahead to combine a layout for a magazine with the customization and immediacy of digital media. News follows many topics beyond a million and puts relevant stories according to the preferences of the reader or user to be easily saved or shared in the future without any compromise to privacy (Coyne, Kame’enui & Simmons, 2001). The News app is powered by new custom designed as Apple News Format. This is a digital publishing format which permits publishers to come up with layouts that are beautiful. News keeps track of interests and topics for users and can be used to search for a favourite news source; and every publisher has a channel with a list of top stories customized accordingly. Some of the publishers who signed up as launch partners for News included Vanity Fair, The Economist, Time, Financial Times, Vox, BuzzFeed, The Verge, Bloomberg Business, and The New York Times. Apple’s News app was launched in UK, US, and Australia (Montoya, 2015). News has close resemblance to Flipboard and it runs on iOS. The users of iOS are able to pick news sources to add that consist of ordinary websites and Apple partners, but it will provide a selection of articles related to what is being searched. Step-by-step guide to installation iOS system only installs and subsequently runs applications verified on an Apple device. The stringent security standards have been rolled out by the company for safer of the device as well as malware protection. Nevertheless, in the course of this exercise, many applications do not make it to the AppStore hence making users to miss out on important applications that are interest in. using jailbreak, users are able to explore various apps and proceed to make the desired customization to the respective devices (Montoya, 2015). Apple News is the latest attempt by Apple to make magazines and newspapers relevant despite the era of tablets and smartphones. As compared to the virtual periodicals of Newsstand, Apple News outlines news as being a dynamic feed (Montoya, 2015). It is a personalized digital magazine that has stories that have been taken from various publishers across platforms. The user is able to stay informed without moving from one app to another app. The app is all about convenience and it bypasses many other companies that have ignored print media to keep their clients informed. Apple News allows the user to come up with stunning content for News. The user can author once and News optimizes the content for all iOS devices so that readers have a great experience regardless of the device they are using. The user can drill down to particular topics using Search. When the user wants to focus on the topic or publication that they have expressed an interest in it, the user can do so using Search. On the other hand, publications are closely related to typical magazine experience, although with the various interface as well as layout conditions and restrictions on News impose (Montoya, 2015). News app takes advantage of being an imposing character. Apple News is the company’s news aggregations and is not something new since it is related to Flipboard. Conclusion Apple News is a beautiful application that assists the user to access news sources from different sources and personalize it as he desires.
