BUILDING ANALYSIS ON SAVIL BUILDING BY GLEN HOWELLS ARCHITECTS LOCATED AT THE GREAT PARK WINDSOR Networks and Significant Beauty Beauty or the aesthetic value of every building is an important feature of every structure established within certain locations. It could be observed that concerning Savil Building, the aesthetic of presentation of the building actually got along well with the location where it has been situated. Through improving the entire landscape of the park, the building actually creates a fine presentation of the area whereas it obviously makes it possible for the visitors to feel like as if they belong to the landscape itself. The dome shape of the roof creates an illusion that the entire building is an obvious structure that grows out with the landscape and makes the entire building seem naturally created as part of the entire feature of the land. Through all the other features of the location, the structure of the building stands out as a primary attraction to the area. Being a part of the entire landscape works well for the Savil Building. Utilizing the natural beauty of the location where the structure is established makes the entire building created not only for making the outstanding function it opts to serve, it aims to also enhance the entire natural scope of the location of the area where it s situated1. This capability of the structure to bring out the natural essence of the beauty that the location itself posses makes the entire creation a complimentary element to the entire landscape. Nature Seen and Sensed The major features of the shapes and elements that make up the building actually create a more sophisticated presentation of nature. The dome roof that seems to mimic the entire scale of the land where there are hills around the area. It could be observed that it is also through this particular feature that the air within the building becomes easily controllable for free2. The humidity of the area which is based from the natural changes that the weather within the location actually makes the entire building dependent on the changes on air and humidity of the area.3 It could be observed that through dome roofs, modern structures gain better use of the natural resources as primary sources of energy of the entire structure. Besides that, the glass windows that covers up the whole area allows for natural sunlight to enter into the building giving it better chances of being properly lit during the day until the mid afternoon. This particular feature of the building also gives the entire area a natural presentation of the landscape outside which goes perfectly for the interiors of the building. The utilization of natural beauty as the primary presented design within the interiors and even in the external designs of the building makes it a major item of interest for many builders who would simply like to create buildings that are highly aesthetic in terms of the structure’s connection to natural beauty and the building’s high efficiency in terms of using natural energy as their main source of energy sustenance for most part of the day. 4 Instrumental Cities The merging of nature and modern industries to create a better living for the human civilization is obviously based upon the effective merging of the elements that make up the said features of natural and industrial resources. Before, establishing structures without actually hurting the environment might have seemed impossible. However, with proofs such as that of the Savil Building, the improvement of the procedures taken by modern architects and engineers in finding the best ways possible to merge industrialization with the long fight towards saving the earth from total devastation has been made true and effective for function and practicality the like. Believing that the intense pressure grows on the need to continue in pursuance for this aim of modern structural buildings and creations, the process of finding what works best for modern buildings to function well while contributing to the needed sense of earth protection that the project eco architecture wants to pursue. From the different options available provided through the natural resources in the environment, it could be observed that the builders of Savil Building actually created a fine example on how nature could be used in accordance with the aim of creating a functional structure that would be able to cater to the demands of human individuals without actually hurting or in any way damaging the environment. Through this, the builders were able to find the right way to make a great improvement on the process by which eco architecture is hailed as a major modern movement prepared by the advocates of environmental saving procedures adapted for modern creation of structures around the world.5 This gives way to the introduction of modern instrumental cities that are well prepared to create instantaneous effect on the process by which modern technology and modern architecture is given attention at present. Cultures of Technology Technology of course has a great part in making establishments such as that of the Savil building possible for existence. The studies on how natural resources could be directly used as power source of major establishments such as this one could be observed as primary foundations on the development of the different energy saving features of the Savil building which greatly gives an essence of practical savings for the administrators and owners of the building. Along with that, the utilization of machines that are designed to enhance the level of efficiency that the entire building has in adapting to the environment that it is in and giving off the energy that the entire structure needs to create a fine distribution that would be beneficial for every part of the establishment has made a great representation on how the works of technology could practically give way to saving the earth when used in a rather strategic and phenomenal procedure. Design: Approaches As obviously seen from both the interiors and the exteriors of the building, it could be noticed that the design of the building was well thought about so as to assist in making it more capable of getting and distributing energy that thy building needs right from the environment that surrounds its location. The sun is obviously created as the main source of lighting through the glass walls and the dome roof and open ceiling allows for natural air refreshing s-circulation to occur in the area making it easier for the building to circulate air as needed. The apparent use of such shapes makes it easier for the natural sources of energy and light to penetrate the area giving the entire building an appealing natural sense of approach which makes the entire area homey and creatively presentable for the visitors as well. Perception: Orientation and Empathy The area where Savil Building is located is obviously a natural arena of beauty that holds as a dear habitat for most organisms including several animals. The nature-friendly way that it has been created upon, like as if embedding it in the entire area could be seen as a particular feature of the building that gives it a sense of empathy towards nature. At the present, the society is critically involved and focused with the rapid industrialization and the technological advancement in every field that is connected in their lifestyle. This is their attempt to further advance the quality of the living and the modernization of every aspect of life in this planet particularly the human civilization and their environmental affiliation. In addition, with this concept, the human society is using their present advancements to further develop their ecological relationship with the environment of this planet. The way people deals with the issues and problems in the environment have indeed becomes significantly modernized at the present wherein every intricate detail is now being critically and significantly treated with delicate importance. Yes, society has now become aware and concern with the delicate balance of in the environment affecting the protection and promotion of the ecology. Presently, human society has now addressing every aspect and element of the ecological balance to promote its preservation and development. This concept has inspired many controversial issues in the society wherein their actions have either produced social complications and social support from the public in relation to other aspects in the present social system. In the aspect of ecological husbandry, reports and studies have already been established to determine the significant impact of hunting to the human society. A study conducted by McKechnie has concluded that animal hunting have indeed a significant impact of the ecological balance of the different species of animal in the environment (2001). Another husbandry aspect such as leather industry has also been reported to have an adverse impact to the human environment particularly on the health aspect and the ethical perception of the people towards the said industry (Vackayil, 2001). In the aspect of aquatic marines, the tuna-dolphin controversy in the eastern Pacific Ocean has also raised sufficient public concern regarding its adverse effect on the balance of the marine ecology in the affected regions (Scott, 1998). To address these controversial ecological problems in the aquatic ecology, the human society has established different approaches and means to preserve the stability of the marine environment. An example of this preservation approach is the journal study by Love and Schroeder regarding the ecological and political issue surrounding the decommissioning of the offshore oil facilities. In this article, the authors have concluded that environmental concern is much more important the economic and political value of the facilities thus the preservation aspect must be significantly prioritized by the society and the government. In global aspect, environmental concern has also inspired many advocates of the protection and preservation campaign. A research journal of Ayres and Weaver published in their book generally exemplified and implies the dangers of continuous pollution and deterioration of the Earth’s natural biosphere to every living species in the planet (1998)6. They have concluded that the human civilization must become fully concerned with the preservation of the global ecology for this planet to continuously sustain every life known in the ecology. Thus, these articles and research journal have significantly exemplified that the society indeed is now becoming much concern and aware of the prevalent dangers of the deterioration of the natural ecology of this planet. Because of these, the human society is now moving steadfast in their campaign for life preservation and environment promotion by employing their advances in technology and scientific researches.7 Conclusion Understanding the fact that the earth is currently facing its fight towards facing the numerous challenges of industrialization and human modernization should give a clear implication that great changes should be made. It could be noticed that eco architecture has already made its way in making and encouraging such numerous changes upon making modern procedures of building possible for existence in the creation of modern structures in the human society. The Savil Building is one among the many modern proofs that the emerging of eco architecture and its collaboration with the systems of technology and modern ideas of industrialization is indeed possible and beneficial for the modern human race. Through implicating the practical ways of designing structural buildings and making good use of natural resources that are found with the areas of location where the establishments are to be built upon, the creation of such buildings stand as major sources of contribution to the earth’s fight for safety and preservation.
