The paper " Information Technology Infrastructure to Support the Processes of Supply Chain Processes " is a great example of a capstone project on information technology. Information technology is critical for innovation that translates to business success. Most of the businesses have benefited from the digital revolution since even hands-on activities such as agriculture today need computers for procurement, research, financial planning, and record-keeping purposes. Information technology promotes business innovation that has resulted in wider information distribution, faster processing, improvement in data storage, and smarter applications (Berisha-Shaqiri 2014). Through innovation, businesses can run more efficiently and boost, enhance quality, and increase the value of productivity.
Innovation linked to information technology has made the business go through a number of radical changes. For example, it has made online shopping to be more efficient compared to store shopping. It has also made digital marketing more efficient than high-cost radio, television, and newspaper advertising. In addition, social networking has been more efficient as opposed to going to clubs and Voice over Internet Protocol communication is better than legacy telephony (Apăvăloaie 2014). 1.1 Objectives The paper aims to implement an information technology infrastructure to support the processes of supply chain processes when booking a car from a typical car dealer (Marinagi, Trivellas & Sakas 2014).
The goals of the report are: Examine the chain processes of booking a car from a typical car dealer; Determine the suitable technology needed for each of the processes; and Recommend the best provider of technology out of the sellers that are suggested. 1.2 Current Situation (Including the entire relevant internal situation) The model of business activity focuses on the events executed when booking a customer-made car from a car manufacturer.
It highlights how businesses and customers can work together to produce cars that suit the specifications of the customers and the production technology in the production plants. The model is a logistic function and supply chain for booking a new car that entails essential steps which include booking, provision of specifications, procurement, scheduling, manufacturing, assembling, and payment. 1.3 Assumptions The study is a theoretical concept thus not an actual process in Australia. It, therefore, has a number of assumptions. Some of the assumptions are; The company is a property limited and operates only in Australia The company is made of two chief project engineers; four senior engineers; eight project supervisors; eight management staff and 50 to 150 contractual laborers. The business operates as a medium enterprise with a capital asset of $80 million that includes the building, facility, and equipment. The company has a customer selection and evaluation criteria that take into account opportunities for contracts, supply chain integration, the extent of data sharing, and form of communication among others. The company has the capacity and ability to recognize the salient events that define its success or failure. It also has a strategic alliance and partnership with more than 5 automobile companies including Australia Motor Industries, Holden, Ford Australia, and Toyota. The company caters to the needs of the customers through ensuring on-time delivery, effective service, high-quality products, and low-cost production. 1.4 Methodology The study focused on analyzing the supply chain.
Each process was analyzed based on its characteristics such as the benefits of output and input, partners, people, decisions, and processes. The complexity of each of the processes was based on the relative complexity which was calculated by comparing it to the highest level of complexity determined.
