Your full full September 24, Summary Men and women are equally important for the existence of human life. Islam considers gender discrimination as one of the most serious offenses. Islam protects women rights and gives extreme importance to their rights in the Islamic legal system. Islam provides women with the freedom of speech and the right of inheritance. Islam emphasizes on development of a strong and trustworthy relationship between a man and a woman in the form of marriage. Marriage is based on a mutual agreement between a man and a woman. In the relationship of marriage, men are responsible to provide women with financial comfort, medical care, and shelter while women are responsible for taking care of their husbands and children. The responsibilities of men do not make them superior to women rather it is their duty to take care of women whom they marry.
Islam discourages the act of divorce but provides women with the right to get divorce if they are not completely satisfied with the relationship due to any significant reason. Islam provides the divorced woman with the right to marry some other person after waiting for a specific amount of time. Women also possess the right of inheritance in Islam as they are given shares in the properties of their parents and husbands. Islam also provides educational rights to women. Women can also work in order to give financial assistance to their families. Therefore, we can say that Islam is a religion that discourages gender discrimination in every field of life and provides men and women with equal rights.
