SUBDIVISION AND ASSET RECORDING Name Course Instructor Institution Location Date Introduction Asset Recording is the process of noting the operations and existence of different tools and equipment a pertaining to several fields such as Water, and sewers to mention a few. The process involves the noting down of data concerning residential subdivisions. There are several markets present in countries that record assets in one way or another. Sectors that use the process are Engineering, Telecommunications, Water, and Sewers (JHA 2011). Subdivision Construction The process of Subdivision breaks down Construction activities and items to manageable sizes for the purposes of increasing productivity. Questions The two items work hand in hand in the construction industry. The relation between the two raises several questions such as; 1. What are the activities pertaining to Subdivision and Asset recording? 2. Does Asset record come before or after Subdivision in the Construction Industry? 3. What are the skills that improve asset record and subdivision in construction? 4. What is the importance of asset recording and development in the building process? 5. What are the effect of asset record and subdivision in construction? Purpose The purpose of the essay is to understand the terms of Asset recording and Subdivision in the construction process and, therefore, come up with the effects of the two conditions. Background For several years, construction has undergone numerous evolutions from one era to another. It is real that as early as 100 BC, the Romans had their ancient ways of recording data pertaining to all equipment and told used in construction. More so the Romans knew how to divide work into small workable pieces in order to achieve the intended goal. The Emperor would determine the project in need of construction. The chief architects would discuss with engineers concerning the earmarked project (Epstein & Jermakowic 2008). According to Kazlow & King (2001), the architect would gather resources and assign them to different sections of the entire project. There would a certain number of people working on various parts of the building. To them, this was Division of labor. The other reason as to why people would work efficiently was because people would work in accordance with the fields that they had skills. The works were had subdivisions in order to speed up the process of building in the long run. In Egypt, there were over 500 men who made the internal part of the Greta pyramid. Over one thousand were working on the exterior areas of the monument. Over a thousand men gathered all resources required in the construction of the tomb (Schwartzkopf & Tasker 2006). Today, there are Project Managers whose duty is to come up schedules and ensure that all activities have the needed resources such as men and the related tools for the assigned work. On the site, the manager who could be an engineer or architect will list all activities involved in the entire project. The each activity in the project has several resources present in it for proper functioning (Nikolai et al. 2010). Project managers use resources histograms to subdivide the entire project into small workable portions each with its resources like men and tools. The result is that the project is fast and cost effective due to proper planning, the division of work and proper record keeping of all assets on site. The importance of record keeping in the construction process helps to identify which tools and equipment are absent, spoilt and in the need for the execution of work for the implantation of the project (International Business Publications, USA 2012). Information There are several equipments and facts concerning asset recording and subdivision of the construction process as shown below. Table 1: Details of tools. No. Equipment Details Functions 1. Total Station It has three parts. These are; 1. The total station head. 2. The triplet legs. 3. The staff. The head is where all data is. The surveyor sets up the instrument such that the plumb bob and red light lie on top of the benchmark and plumb. The mercury bubble is in the circle for the device to be on plumb. The surveyor puts the total station on the level. Leveling precedes setting the assumed starting points if the Assumed system works. For known points of a particular benchmark, then the surveyor uses them. The point is three. They are; 1. Easting. 2. Nothings. 3. Angles. The partner of the principal surveyor goes to corner stones or point of interest whose distances need determination. The surveyor should see the prism of the staff. The assessor notes down distances, angles, and survey points. Determines levels for a given project like a road or Building. 2. Computerized MS Project. MS Project is a software for scheduling the entire project on a computer. MS Project is a program that helps in scheduling the entire project on a computer. Develop the program for the activities in the Project. Develop a histogram for each activity with resources. All resources undergo subdivision. The tool takes care of the entire project. Keeps track of all assets and tools used in the Construction Process Asset recording Processes The processes involved are; 1. Surveys are pertaining to residential sections in the fields of sewer, optical connections, D- Spec and R-Spec, and water. 2. Construction of Pipelines for healthy, waste, and recycled water while considering as- built procedures. 3. Infrastructural capture surveys for telecommunications. 4. Analyze pipe ovality. 5. Research on GIS activities. 6. The design of engineering parameters like the civil works concerned with road construction in terms of tools used. There are several services that work hand in hand with Asset recording. The services are; 1. Provision of field work on Surveys within twenty-four hours 2. There is the comparison of the design of engineering with actual construction. 3. Use of FTP skills in the transfer of enormous files to and from the required field. 4. Photographing of Geographic parameters. 5. Assess videos for certain types of assets. 6. Make reports that compare several designs. The reports show data on the ground. 7. Provision of reports on sewer within the agreed area. 8. Provision of programs used in the interior of buildings to give desired as- built designs. 9. Management of traffic in an area. 10. Alerting of the public about safety measures that protect life in the long run as workers do their jobs. The jobs could be in engineering. The person concerned with asset recording should be in a position to give safety materials like safety boots and helmets to workers and visitors who visit and work on site respectively. There are some operations as one records data concerning equipment that needs protection. For example, as one supervises the meters of optic fiber laid down in the ground, the ground could be unbearable. The only way for such a person to continue doing their work have gumboots to count the number and distance of the fibers for ascertainment reasons (Kieso., Weygandt., & Warfield 2011). Similarly, Secker (2007) holds the practice of asset recording is essential in civil and telecommunications works. The method involves the use of several teams that has to act that fast. The team ensures that the processes involved in construction are of course. The purpose of having a good team on board is to prevent delays in the critical path of the given project. The practice takes into consideration as built data. The group is responsible for any feedbacks to concerned people who are in the construction business and mores o using the given equipment. The high level of service enables timely delivery of equipment and tools or the purposes of development (Abin 2010). Subdivision Construction The process of Subdivision breaks down Construction activities and items to manageable sizes for the purposes of increasing productivity. There are several steps involved in such a process. Processing and Reviewing Plans for Civilians gives a civil plan needs a review and submission in order to have an efficient construction process. The process of reviewing the public plan involves; 1. Layout: Any Town or Municipality has a code followed to allow the applicant and consultant to come up with a preliminary design. The code for that city or Municipality ensures that the layout has all the required data. 2. Review: The preliminary plat operation occurs along with the consideration of the design. The authorized Engineer will need to photocopy the design. The engineer should be good a working plans foe engineering purposes. Te engineer needs to make sure comments ten days before a Committee for Planning and Hearing convenes. 3. Meeting: A meeting on Subdivision construction by the Planner commences after there was approval of the layout. The developer interested in constructing should attend the meeting. There should be a copy of the authorized plan and plan. Attached to the two items should be a resolution by the concerned council for the city with conditions for the plant. The construction plan submittal undergoes discussion by the Plans Examiner and all interested members present. In addition to the submittal is the review in which drawings are on record. All fees and relevant items relating to the submittal of the plan will need an attachment to the record of pictures. Relation to Surveying The total station helps in opening of boundaries for the individual plot. In addition to that, the instrument works on the principles of light rays. The light rays go from the head to the glass prism on the staff. The light rays bounce back to the total station head. Then a reading appears on the screen of the instrument. The angles, distances, and related points are on the screen. The device ideally helps a survey to get the exact size of the plot of land on which construction will occur. The developer will hire an architect o draw an architectural plan. The programs will need to follow the land title. The reason is that the project may not fit on the plot of land, and so a surveyor is essential. The engineer will tell the developer in case the building will fit in the plot basing on distance on the ground and not those on paper (Land title). Conclusion All in all, assets recording help in determining which tools and equipment exist, spoilt and in need in the construction process. The practice gives a detailed description of which tools are in use and good shape for better construction. On the other hand, a subdivision in construction helps to reduce an enormous workload into small, doable tasks. However, there are codes that govern the preliminary plat and drawing presented by the developer. The developer works in conjunction with the municipality of city council authorities in order to have the permission to ahead with the construction. The study adds more knowledge to the student as it enlightens them on the uses of asset recording and subdivision of labor in the field of surveying. It is important to remember that assets recording and subdivision can occur after each other depending on the situation in construction. Asset recording involves counting and noting all items used in construction. Development means of huge tasks into small ones in accordance with the stipulated codes and procedure of the Council. Therefore, Assets recording and community help in the proper execution of the project during construction. References Abin., 2010. Analysis and design of univariate subdivision schemes.
