THE INTERIOR ARCHITECT Name University Professor (Tutor) Course City/State Date Introduction Interior architecture comes to use because of increased scope and works done by interior designers nowadays; due to enormous improvements and development of design technology, also improvements in education. Interior Architecture is usually associated with the creation of structural boundaries and human interaction with these limits. Therefore, it refers to the unique art of environmental design, form and practice (Architectural inspiration: styles, details, & sources, 2008). In practice, the interior architecture requires all designers to include almost everything to do with an interior space of a building that may affect human habitation. For many years, interior architecture has been used to redecorate structures and building. This ranges from initial contraction plans to final touches and encompasses finishes, electrical requirements, materials, lighting, plumbing, ergonomics, ventilation and intelligent use of space (Ching, 2012). The interior architecture should be able to design every aspect in the interior of a particular building; this will enable all the things to be fitted in that building to feet properly according to specifications given. Interior architecture is the process by which interiors of structures or buildings are designed, in order to accommodate all aspects of human use of the particular structural space. The person doing interior architecture is referred to as Interior Architect. The interior Architect has many roles to perform in the interior design. For instance, when given a building to design they should ensure that the finishes, electrical requirements, materials, lighting, plumbing, ergonomics and ventilation are well done and also make sure that there is intelligent use of space. The interior Architect has to make sure that the clients are satisfied (Lawrence, 2005). This will enable them to create a good relationship for future works/designs that they may do. The Interior Architecture is a profession. Hence, the interior Architect should conduct himself or herself professionally. In this regard, the Pixar headquarters has effectively used the designs in various approach where it has a marveled art that is naturally popular, just by the look of it looks creatively abound. The Pixar building and the Kooyong Residence in Sydney showcases the marveled designs paramount to the development of appropriate design work. Define Roles of Interior Design Architect The role of the interior architect has become increasing prominent due to the changing requirements of the modern society. Mostly, the interior of the building is redesigned leaving the original shell of the building intact. In general, the definition role of an Interior Architect is simply a utilizing skill learned and those acquired in relation with a client to ensure a structure or building looks well organized and arranges, to ease work and be used for a particular purpose (Tzonis and Giannisē, 2004). The different interior architect has different roles with respect to the work they do and also their clients. Meet with clients This is the major responsibility of an Interior Design Architect. It involves meeting with clients to discuss and agree on the decorating needs, the functionality of the building or room, room layouts of the building. Therefore, a language that is understood by both the client and the interior Design Architect should be used. Some customers know what they want and how it should be done. It’s the work of the Interior Design Architect to ensure that he/she understands the nature of the clients’ needs (Tzonis and Giannisē, 2004). These are more appropriate if both the client and interior Design Architect are on-site to enable proper visualization and discussion of the required patterns in the design, the color required, fabrics to be used and also the furnishing required. Plan the space It’s the responsibility of the Interior Architect to know the living or work space they are to work upon. This helps understand the client’s intentions. The plan area provides the Interior Design Architect with time to design properly; he/she does not under or overestimate the drawings (Glancey, 2006). The work requires mapping out space in the room/building to aid in understanding what goes where. Purchase Furnishings The Interior Architect orders and purchases all the furnishings coordinates the delivery and installation. From actual sense, the client pays for all the furnishings, but the Interior Architect is responsible for legwork necessary for the ordering of the items. The major role in this particular case is to ensure proper working items are delivered; that is making the client happy (McAlester, McAlester and MacLean, 1994). Some clients take up the role of purchasing of the furnishings, living the Interior Architect just to install according to their demand. Furnish the area The primary function of the Interior Architect is to furnish the room, building, and structure that they have been allocated. Some Interior Architect does this work on their own while others may hire a professional body to do the job and ensure that the particular designs of the Interior Architect in unity with the client are followed to the latter (Lawrence, 1992). The Interior Architect may have the manpower to do the work especially putting everything in the place it’s required. How interior space could potentially influence inhabitation From different architectural styles, various interior spaces are developed. This spaces can be regarding congestion, placement, design and how items are. The Pixar Headquarters is a marveled design that has effectively used this design. Atrium Space In the past, atrium sample space was used in the central area of the house; nowadays the term is associated with typically commercial or public buildings. This interior sample space type includes multistoried spaces and glazed courtyard spaces (Glancey, 2006). Atria are the key architectural feature at the main entrance, unique destinations and public circulation areas within a structure or building. Atrium space design involves skylights that provide an infusion of natural light. Figure 1.1 Pixar Interior building The atrium space requires durable finishes, flexible and regular maintenance. Also, they are associated with softer shapes, textures, and more colors. Its simplicity defines this style. Nothing is too much; everything is moderate. The thoughts illuminated by such a space highlights the divergent and creates an environment that makes the occupants view a large space; where it evokes the subconscious that relates to a large space for the occupants. The designs showcased that creates an illuminated images of marveled designs. The design does not include dividing into chambers; clothes, furniture or glass partitions take up the role of separating (Glancey, 2006). Straight lines and shining surfaces give the interior the best look. The number of accessories in the structure should be minimal. Usually, the floor is made from easy to clean, replace and take care of; for instance, linoleum, wood or even stone tile (Ching, 2012). The furniture included showcases thoughts and designs that attracts the viewer. In other cases, wardrobes are designed in the interior to improve on storage and easy management of items. As seen from figure 1.1 a picture by the Modern Minimalist Style is spacious, well illuminated, knit, and easy to clean and simple. It utilizes the Atrium space design in the building. This approach is more inclined to utilization of available space. Creating thoughts of well-lit environment that complements the designs and approaches used in illuminating the designs. The primary color of walls, floor, and furniture on this style is mostly white. Sometimes neutral colors like beige, gray, light-green can do the trick. There should be a unshowy color to fabricate the accents; brighter colors are used (Architectural inspiration: styles, details, & sources, 2008). Often clients hang large pictures on the wall to enhance attractiveness. The big windows are not placed with curtains or shades to create the effect of lightness. The style using atrium space is usually spacious, and accidents ranging from simple injuries to permanent fractures can be avoided. A classic reinterpreted style, Modern Minimalist Style, and Classic Style is a refined styles, where Auditorium space types are found in a new approach. The houses with this interior design style are easy to maintain but also expensive to purchase. Figure 1.2 As seen in figure 1.2 of Kooyong Residence in Sydney (Matt Gibson Architecture), the white wood ceiling has an appealing look and has favorite interior features.
