The paper "Emotional Intelligence " is a perfect example of a management assignment. When I first looked at my test I wondered what exactly this meant. Does it have to do with how intelligent a person is? Does it have to do with their emotions? I was not sure. The test said that the better your Emotional Intelligence, the better you will do in your life. I am not sure that this is true. I think that a person cannot be judged only by Emotional Intelligence because it is only one part of what makes the person a person.
I think that you have to take into consideration their ideas, their frame of mind at the time they are doing something, their personality and their skills and abilities. I think that we cannot predict from one small test whether someone will be successful in their entire life. Some of the questions on the test did not seem to be relevant to me. For example, when I am asked about what someone else is feeling, like so many of the questions asked, I cannot be sure because I am not that person.
Some people have a certain look on their face that may mean one thing to me, but something different to that person. I just do not think that it is that easy to decide what someone else is thinking without asking them. I also think that emotions should be kept private and many people do not show any emotion. If this is true, then how can we be sure that Emotional Intelligence is accurate? I have known many managers who are not very intelligent and who play favorites.
Maybe their Emotional Intelligence said they should be a manager but common sense would have said something different. I was not sure that my EI scores were important enough to use them in the future.
