Knowledge and understanding is essential in studying the ANZAC event due to the fact that students will be in a position to developing important historical events surrounding ANZAC as well as build on historical inquiry skills which is important in year 7-10 history. In regard to the aforementioned, students will have a better understanding and sufficient knowledge on civilizations and societies of the past in association with ANZAC event. Additionally, they will understand and appreciate legacies of past civilizations and societies. Consequently, values and attitudes are important in studying history. By inclusion of ANZAC in the curriculum, the students will be in a position to appreciate history as a subject that entails studying of human experience. Additionally, studying of ANZAC will provide the students with the opportunity to a lifelong enthusiasm and interest for history. This will be achieved if images and ICT skills are involved in creating positive attitudes and values. Furthermore, values and attitudes are essential as students will be able to perceive the nature of history as a reflection of different view points and perspectives. For instance, through ANZAC the instance will know the cost of war and thus promote peace in their daily lives. They will also appreciate the roles that were played by Australian men and women in fighting for the nation’s democracy. Moreover, values and attitudes are important in studying ANZAC even as students are in a position to contribute towards a society that is just via informed citizenship. For example, their will shun conflict and practice/ exercise their democratic rights. Finally values and attitudes will make students to appreciate the contribution of the present and the past people towards American shared heritage which provides Australians with national identity. Therefore, the aforementioned makes students to know and be proud of their national identity at an early age. Consequently, skills are essential in understanding and studying ANZAC as an historical event. This is due to the fact that history is placed in a unique manner that enables students not only to discover but also to apply ICT skills like the internet and CD-ROM in researching and investigating past occurrences. ICT skills will be important for students as through studying ANZAC as an historical event, the students will be in a position to develop and prove their skills in evaluating the essentiality of website as a source of historical information. Additionally, skills such as ICT skills are essential as students will have the opportunity to build generic research skills which will assist in not only accessing and collecting information on ANZAC even but also retrieving and interpreting information so that they can be in a position to use image blank such as web or clip art images on ANZAC occurrences. Finally, skills are important in studying historical events such as ANZAC because students will be in a position to their abilities in designing and creating desktop published documents in communication their understanding of ANZAC. For instance, highlighting and ethically publishing images related to the event. 3. Commemoration and teaching of the ANZAC day for Australia student year 7-10 gives the students an ooprtunity to gain sufficient knowledge on Galllipoli and Australia getting involved in conflict. The inclusion of the event in curriculum further assists the students to appreciate the contributions of Australian women and men in maintaining the principles of democracy and freedom. Consequently, through the event, students are in a position to discover their identities as the event helps to describe distinct cultural impacts as well as the manner in which they have contributed to the identities of Australian. By learning about the ANZAC day, students will be in a position to learn about various things associated with not only war but also peace which will assist them in appreciating their national identities. Additionally, the students will learn the different meanings of the ANZAC spirit to distinct group of people. For instance, ANZAC day enables students to know and appreciate women and men who served at Gallipoli as well as reflect on their extraordinary achievement they went through to survive dreadful fighting conditions. Consequently, the inclusion of the ANZAC event in the Australian history curriculum assists the students to know the cost of war. For instance as a result of war, people lost their lives, property were destroyed, farmland and natural environment were damaged. The aforementioned assists the students to cultivate the philosophy of peace and shun war in their daily lives. Furthermore, the students will be in a position to understand the importance of developing greater cooperation and understanding between people all over the world. It also makes students to learn and appreciate various ways of resolving conflict such as discussion and negotiation other than use of force. For instance, the contribution of the Gallipoli campaign in the Great War should be widely discussed. As per the objectives of history curriculum for years 7-10, the ANZAC will assist the student to develop not only understanding but also knowledge on nature of past periods, history, societies and their legacy. Consequently, the even will enable them to acquire skills that will assist them in undertaking the historical inquiry process as well as communicating the learned ideas. Additionally, as per the objective of the Australian history curriculum for 7-10 years, educating the students on the ANZAC even will enable them to have a better understanding of various significant development of Australian political, social as well as cultural history. Finally, the students will be in a position to know attitudes and values as through the ANZAC event, they will be in a position to contribute towards a just society via informed citizenship. Hence, in regard to the aforementioned, it is important for history teachers to encourage students to develop their historical inquiry skills by examining not only the motives but also the consequences the actions of the people in the past as well as evaluating the existing interpretations of the past events. For instance, using ANZAC as the subject of study, the study will inquire the contributions of the occurrence to the Australian democracy in addition to ways in which the event assisted in shaping the modern world. Hence, towards the study of the subject, the students should be in a position to work in realizing all outcomes with focus on describing and explaining the nature of history surrounding ANZAC. Furthermore, students will be in a position to explain and describe the key features of ANZAC and its legacies using inquiry strategy.
