The audience targeted by this article is the students. “They are required to make ethical decisions just like the ones made in the business field (Paul, 2010, p. 43).” The students had no ethics in their undertakings in school. It wanted to educate them on the importance of ethics in their lives.
The main discussion in this article is the level of ethical behavior students have. It says, “Critics of ethics education claim that students’ value system is already formed upon entering college (Paul, 2010, p. 11).” However, this is not the case, the article wants to highlight lessons students should learn to behave morally.
This article suggests that teachers should include subjects that teach ethics. They should not assume the students are morally upright. Many teachers experience students cheating in exams, and this is an example of a lack of ethics.
The main ideas in these articles are the effects of ethics in education and the ethical behavior in the campus. The author uses the example of cheating in an exam. Technology ruins morals because, for example, students use it as a tool to cheat in an exam. ‘Cheating behaviors and tolerance to cheating increases with technology (Paul, 2010, p. 32)”
Teaching students how to behave in an ethical way will improve their discipline. There education standards will rise because there will be little cheating. Furthermore, there is a disadvantage because the students will be limited to accessing the technology, denying them lessons of the digital systems.
High moral standards are a good environment for effective learning. Teachers and parents should pass the knowledge of ethics to students.
