Kids and Technology - Admission/Application Essay Example

I am highly dependent on the use of laptops and cell phones in my day-to-day life. Even though I do not own a tablet, I strongly feel that the use of this particular technology can be very useful in improving the learning performance of each child. To improve the quality of education in the United States, a lot of students between 8 to 18 years old are highly dependent on the use of digital technologies. Aside from the use of laptops (70%), a lot of students in the middle school are also using desktops (66%), smartphones (47%), large or small tablets (48%), e-book readers (17%), and netbooks (12%) (Nagel, 2013).

Tablet technology can serve as one of the best learning modalities (Schnackenberg, 2013). Aside from being handy, the use of tablets such as iPads and android can make the child’s learning experience more enjoyable (Courtois et al., 2013). In fact, tablets can be used to promote the child’s learning through playing online educational games (Couse & Chen, 2010). Similar to the use of desktops and laptops, tablets are equally useful in terms of stimulating each child’s auditory, tactile, and visual senses (Schnackenberg, 2013).

Using tablets, it is possible to increase the test scores of low-performing students (Ferrer, Belvis & Pamies, 2011). I strongly believe that the use of tablets can further improve children’s overall learning experience.
