The University of California, Los Angeles - Admission/Application Essay Example

My academic performance suffered because I was not able to take my pills due to the depressing events that happened in the previous semester.  I have ADHD and without my pills, I find it hard to concentrate and study.  Those times were difficult because of several circumstances such as being disconnected from my family for a year, my girlfriend leaving me, and without a place to stay.   My visa also expired and was not able to resolve it in Spain because classes have already started that I have to juggle my schedule.

These issues combined took a toll on me and prevented me from taking my medication which resulted in my inability to concentrate on my studies because of my ADHD.  These issues however are resolved by now and I hope that you will give me a chance that I am still the same student that you admitted to the university. UCLA is a dream university not just for me but also for others who struggle with the same issue that I have.  I do not want to let people down who I made to believe that we can still achieve things even if we have ADHD that is why finishing my degree at UCLA is extremely important for me and others who look up to me for inspiration.

  The setbacks that I experienced are just temporary and have learned how to deal with them effectively.  I promise that this will not happen again. I hope you will give chance to stay at the university and finish my course.  I cannot tell you enough how important it is for me.
