Most of them were unreliable, with an army that was not only skilled but also more professional (Cantor). The 1812 war had a number of heroes as well as heroines, whereby the most common being Andrew Jackson and James Madison. Whereas Madison has recognition due to his role in drafting the Virginia state constitution, Conversely, Andrew Jackson is remembered for the role he played, whereby alongside Tennessee and Kentucky volunteers, he managed to defeat the British army (Hickey).

According to Cantor, the war acted as a watershed moment for the entire state’s development program. This is because the US came up with a much stronger national defense system that apart from justifying the navy, also altered the nation’s attitude, for instance, strengthening the central governance (Cantor). After the war, the US realized that apart from one’s physical appearance, professionalism also plays a major role when it comes to military prowess. It is due to this that it established several military academies, for instance, Citadel as well as the US Coast guard academy. Military academies play a major role in offering skills that one ought to have before going to the battlefield. The new system has proved to be quite effective; this is due to the numerous times it has been put to test, for instance, when the US went to war with Afghanistan and after years of intensive fighting, it emerged victorious, though it suffered several casualties (Waldman).
