Fresh Foods versus Canned Foods Eating food is an essential activity of human beings and animals, which is done at least a number of times daily. However, there are a variety of immense foods in the current world that becomes responsible of what is eaten. People are also responsible for what they eat and know the impacts of food types towards their bodies. This essay is objected to compare and contrast the differences between canned foods and canned foods in order to demonstrate the point-by-point format of compare and contrast essays.

Fresh foods are the foods that are ready for human consumption in their natural conditions, while canned foods undergo various processes to be prepared for consumption by humans. The main differences of fresh and canned foods are their nutritional and dietary benefits, flavors, costs, and quality. The major difference between the two foods is flavors. Fresh foods have great taste and flavor as compared to canned foods, since they keep their natural conditions when eaten. This is because canned foods are added with other chemicals to their natural conditions, or some nutrients reduced, making them to lose flavor.

However, it is logical that fresh foods retain the great taste and flavor due to the time it is prepared for it to be consumed. Fresh foods such as fruits retain their natural taste and flavor, as compared to canned foods where they either lose or increase flavor and taste as can be noticed during consumption. When comparing the fresh and canned foods, there exists another difference of cost. Fresh foods are much cheaper than canned ones. This is because canned foods incur extra costs for processing and packaging them into branded tins and papers.

In addition, canned foods are advantageous as it is easy to find them, especially in supermarkets and other retail shops. Unlike the fresh foods that are available in the markets or in farms, which needs more time to locate the required type of food. Moreover, the canned foods are more convenient because they are available throughout, regardless of the alternating seasons while the fresh foods are only available during the seasonal periods. Tinned foods are easy to prepare for consumption as it is only to open and serve them but fresh foods require extra work of washing or cooking before serving.

However, it is difficult to store fresh foods, as they are perishable items that start losing nutrients and other beneficial contributions to the human body immediately they are harvested, until they are eaten. On the other hand, canned foods are easier to store because they packaged in such a way that they adapt to climatic conditions or for consumption at a given period. Canned foods are more beneficial, especially when one is traveling because they last for longer duration, as compared to fresh foods.

In this case, they sustain a person for a longer time and refute the fear of starvation to where one cannot find anything to eat. Fresh foods cannot be trusted to live for several days because they are perishable and can cause a person to starve, especially where no foods are available for human consumption. For example, space explorers use the canned foods in their journey since there are no foods in the space objects that are consumable to human beings. In terms of health contributions to the body, fresh foods contain more nutrients and other dietary benefits that make it more preferable for human consumption, as compared to canned foods.

Fresh foods contain dietary fibers that reduce chances of digestive challenges to a person after being consumed while such fibers are processed in the canned foods. Fresh foods are the best source of minerals and vitamins, which are essential nutrients in the health, growth, and development of the human body. Processed foods lose their original freshness of the food nutrients during the storing period, which make them reduce their quality. They are also thinned with various chemical and packaging methods that ensure their conservation for prolonging the freshness and shelf life (Kim 22).

The conservatives used can result in toxicity in the human body if often consumed. Comparatively, fresh foods have the capability of ensuring and stabling the health conditions of human beings by adding nutrients that are needed by the body. In conclusion, fresh food and canned foods are different on their flavor and taste, nutritional and dietary benefits, costs, durability and their effects on human health. Canned foods also brought the convenience of food available in the market at all times, as compared to fresh foods that are only available seasonally.

In addition, this paper has demonstrated the way point-by-point format can be used in writing a compare and contrast essay. The essay achieved the purpose of comparing each different point of fresh and canned foods. The format gives the organizational analogical framework of contrasting points after each other between the canned and fresh foods and helps the reader to understand the differences with ease.
