Movies reflect the realities of life. The movie review delves on the societal aspects of the film, Mystic River. The review delves on what makes the movie a film art masterpiece. Incorporating real life scenes catapult a film to masterpiece level. Planning. The planning of the film’s product in is well done. The scenes show the realities of life. The scenes smoothly flow from one scene to the next. The story starts when the actors are children. Next, the film shows the children when they are adults. Third, the story focuses the murder of Katie. Later, the film centers on Jimmy’s strive to find the killer of Katie. The story goes into maximum overdrive when Jimmy kills his childhood friend Dave. The story ends with on a sad note when Jimmy realizes that two other persons killed Katie. The movie brings a sad lesson to the movie because Jimmy committed avoidable murder (Geiger, 2000). Environment. The environment of the film is urban community, houses lined side by side along each block. The community is full of trees. The location includes a river. The environment of Katie’s death is secluded place. The movie awakens the different movie viewers’ own ideas of an urban community. The movie viewers can relate their own urban experiences with their own diverse urbanite society. The move reminds the movie viewers of their own cities’ busy paths. The city has edges, breaks between two urban community buildings. The movie also illustrates the importance of landmarks that separate one urban community from another (Stack, 1974). Culture Urban density and pedestrian development types. The movie also shows that friction often crops up between urban density culture and the pedestrian culture, in terms of urban development (Geiger, 2000). The film shows the familiar culture-based scene when some unruly pedestrians commit crimes against cars passing along the road. Brendan’s brother and John O’Shea play a frank on Katie, who is driving a car. The two connive to unintentional shoot Katie. To prevent Katie from reporting the shooting, the two pedestrian friends decided to kill and dump Katie. Importance of both communication and social contact. The movie shows the importance of the urban culture where social contact and personal communication. The two pedestrian killers were not trained to improve their social contact problem. The two pedestrians should be trained to respect the law and avoid killing Katie or playing harmful franks on innocent civilians. The two pedestrians should have approached Katie and asked for forgiveness, instead of killing Katie (Thomson, 2011). Likewise, the move vividly shows miscommunication cropped up between Dave and his wife. Sean Penn won the best actor award for this movie. Tim Robbins won best supporting actor for the same move. The movie also won best picture award (Williams, 2006). The scenes include Dave’s wife not accepting Dave’s explanation that he fought some muggers. Instead, Dave’s wife informs Jimmy that Dave arrived home with blood on his hands. Both Dave’s wife and Jimmy suspect Dave is the culprit in Katie’s murder. The movie climax surprisingly shows that both were proven wrong (Thomson, 2011). Society. The film depicts one version of how the average urban society’s culture-based moves. The movie scenes gravitate around the murder of Katie. The dramatic movies easily stir the movie audiences to be happy, sad, angry, confused, or even vengeful. Consequently, the director, Clint Eastwood, created a realistic film about life. Life entails both happy moments and sad moments. The movie scene where Dave and Jimmy are conversing on a porch precipitated to Sean Penn’s winning the Best Actor award and Tim Robbins winning the Best Supporting Actor role. The movie also won the Best Picture award in Boston. Likewise, Clint Eastwood won the Best Director award. The movie is created using color films that create moving pictures. Society includes the interaction among the different individuals and entities within the urban community’s borders. Georg Simmel reiterated that people will enjoy movies when the story includes scenes pertaining to culture, life, and subjectivity, just like in the internationally acclaimed Mystic River film (Geiger, 2000). Tight Urban neighborhood. The film has many noteworthy issues cropping up. First, the movie delves on how urban neighborhoods adjust to the limited space among the community’s residents and organizations. The movie starts with a quiet peaceful scene. The scene shows three young boys playing hockey on the street. Then pedophiles in police cars kidnap one of the boys and molested the boy. The scene is in a busy urban community where there is the people are saturated (crowded). The boys are Jimmy Markum, Sean Devine, and Dave Boyle (Thomson, 2011). Close social net work of urban neighbors. The movie shows that the people are very close to one another. The movie shows that everyone knows almost everybody within the community. The community’s children often grow up together and continue to communicate with one another. The move focuses on the strong bond that binds the families together. The movie shows that a strong family where each family members contributes to the closeness of the family members (Geiger, 2000). Favorable culture in Northeastern America. The movie shows the culture of some parts o the United States, specifically where the Mystic River was filmed. The scenes indicate that murder is a regular sight in many cities. Consequently, the locale police department does its part to solve each murder or crime scene, including the murder of Jimmy Markum’s daughter, Katie. As expected the father, Jimmy Markum, goes out of his way to solve the murder, being disgusted with the slow pace of the police department’s investigators. The film shows the American culture of revenge or justice. The father goes out of his way to find and avenge his daughter’s murder. The film shows how the father vengefully kills the suspected murderer, Dave Boyle. The film culture also shows that pedophiles do exist in society, especially in the Mystic River scene (Thomson, 2011). Neighborhood friends parting ways as they grow up. Neighborhood children sometimes grow up separate ways, making new friends in their new environment or community. The film shows the reality of growing up. The film shows that the three boys have grown up and have different lives. The story ends with Jimmy Markum killing Dave Boyle, thinking that Dave killed Katie. The story shows one of the realities of American life, that one’s judgment may be clouded by anger or hurriedness. Sometimes, people commit mistakes in their need to finish a job in lesser time. The movie shows that Jimmy blames the police’s delayed investigation for Jimmy’s murdering Dave, which occurs in society (Geiger, 2000). Urban Crime. The movie shows the realities of urban life. Urban life includes crime scenes. Crime scenes include murders. Crime scenes include the killing of innocent civilians. The scenes include urban residents’ desire to seek justice (Thomson, 2011). Summarizing the above discussion, movies mirror the realities of society. The movie displays the harsh realities of life. The movie vividly displays murder, revenge, and justice. Evidently, the Mystic River’s incorporating possible life scenes prop up the reviewed film to the academy awards’ masterpiece level. References: Geiger, J. (2000). Film Analysis. New York: W.
