Research Strategies Used In Social Psychology Psychology is the scientific study of human nature and their social behaviors. The study mostly relies on research method to carry out research on psychological cases. There various research methods that assist in analyzing the hypothesis and relationship between variables. One of the research methods is the descriptive research that assesses the amount of a given variable in a population. An example of this study is; determine the mortality rate in Asia.

Correlation is a method that analyses where changes in one variable are related to another. For instance, the study would analyze the relationship between media and violence. Experimental research deals with uncovering the typical relationship between variables. The research is to determine if there is a cause and effects between two variables. The experiment involves a control group that receive no treatment and experimental group that receives treatment. The experimenters then compare the two results to determine the effectiveness of the treatment.

Validity research determines the value of a psychological test. For instance, in validity, tests are designed to measure a character traits rather than the emotions influenced by a certain state or environmental condition (Fiske, 2010). Finally, reliability experiment, which is a crucial to in psychological research methods deals with the consistency of the measure. A test is considered reliable if one gets the same results repeatedly. A branch of reliability known as inter-rater reliability assesses the external consistency of the test.
